Bro, in this series the director never focused only on her eyes. Maybe it felt that way to you because you already…
You are twisting my words. Let's write in simple words what i wrote: The FL has two expressions (neutral face or smile) The dubbing voice shows emotion but her face shows nothing Her mouth moves like it hurts Her eyes are constantly wide open in a way that feels unsettling I wished the ML (who i feel like CAN act) was paired with someone who could match him I DIDNT specifically feel this way for her in Princess Gambit. I am not being based. I literally started this cdrama before Princess Gambit. "When a male actor opens his eyes wide, people say he looks handsome. When an actress does it, people call it creepy." -What? Did i ever say this? Why are you putting things i never said? I never mentioned anything about male actors or double standards. The reason i called out her opening her eyes is that she DOES it all the time. Widening eyes can be good in the right moments. Also, "Bro, in this series the director never focused only on her eyes." -Again, I never said that. I made an observation about her acting, not about what the director focused on. You said I am allowed to have an opinion, but you are essentially saying that i am a hater who decided to hate her. Believe me i am the last person who cares about acting. Go through my reviews, and you will see i only ever mentioned acting problems in ONE. People can have different opinions. "But if she really had only two expressions, then so many people wouldn’t watch the drama and it wouldn’t become a dark horse hit." -I heard that the reason this cdrama became such a hit originally was because of the cinematography and other factors. I personally cannot resonate with her acting. That's allowed. "Also, if you say that the drama succeeded only because of the male lead, then the same logic should apply to Princess Gambit, where people said it was carried by the male lead. But that drama didn’t become a hit like Blossom." -Now, here i am shocked. Who gave you such an idea? There are actually people who think this way? That's actually ridiculous to even consider. I said HE can act. That's not the same as saying he carried the whole drama. And comparing it to Princess Gambit's success? I never mentioned that drama's success at all. "when a male actor opens his eyes wide or acts intensely, people say he looks handsome or powerful and that he’s “killing it with his eyes.” But when an actress does something similar, people call it creepy. Why is there a different standard?"- Double standards to the fullest. Again. WHAT. When did i say that men opening their eyes is okay, but when women do it is bad? Let me say it again: opening/widening eyes can be good in the right moments, but it becomes a problem when it's the only way you show/portray emotion. "In my opinion, she portrayed Douzhou’s character very well"- You say it yourself. "IN MY OPINION" That's what an opinion is like. You say it's okay to have an opinion, but you came up with things i never said. I shared my opinion to see if there is anyone who felt that way. "She didn’t play her like a spoiled girl." -Never said this either. My problem is with how she portrays emotion or rather, how I feel nothing from her performance. That's it.
Basically: You say I'm allowed to have an opinion, but then you invented things I never said and used them to argue against me. You're essentially calling me a hater who decided to hate her for no reason. Believe me, I am the last person who cares deeply about acting. Go through my reviews, you'll see I've only mentioned acting problems in ONE other drama. This is my second time. People can have different opinions. You love her performance? Great. That's YOUR opinion. I shared mine to see if anyone else felt the same way. I don't hate her. Maybe in the future I'll watch another drama of hers and feel completely different. Stop putting words in my mouth.
Usually, when i start a cdrama i find the first episode fun to watch and as the episodes continue i lose interest, with this one it's the opposite. The start was the usual cliche/boring, and the first episodes were used to set up the story. Currently at ep19 and i just don't think i will continue this. I've seen the fl actress in Princess Gambit(i watched a bit of the first episode from this one at the time). I remember people criticising her for the lack of expression and emotions. In Princess Gambit i don't remember feeling much annoyance by her acting, but in this one i just can't. The fl actress has two expressions: a neutral face or a smile. It's like she is allergic to showing ANY expression. Literally, at times if you notice the dub voice doesn't suit her face because from the voice you feel emotion, but from her face? Nothing. She moves her mouth as if it hurts. The ml at the start felt scary, and as the episode continue i don't know what to think of. From him, you feel actual acting. Oh. Can we discuss of how the fl's eyes are open wide constantly? It's as if she will eat someone. I wish the ml was paired up with an actress who could show more than two expressions. What a pity...
the first 5 eps were so fun! The visuals and colors were so captivating. I am worried that this will go downside though, thats what always happens in cdramas. They have a promising start and then boom.
i saying this kidly but why don't you mark this as a spoiler from the moment that there are slpoilers. Like you…
in my screen. beside the 'post' button there is the choice to put 'spoiler'. Just tap it and a tick will appear on it(i hope you understand bc idk how to explain differently)
(This contains SPOILERS)omd i started this drama cus i saw an edit of the real shangguang zhi and loved her look…
i saying this kidly but why don't you mark this as a spoiler from the moment that there are slpoilers. Like you are giving a warning but it's better to mark it as one bc someone could look on the text where the spoilers are before the warning(which happens)(i am not trying to be rude)
I don't know if I want to continue watching it anymore...
Right? I had the same reaction at that point. Honestly, it's not a bad show, it just didn't meet my personal expectations. But taste is so subjective! Plenty of people enjoyed it, so definitely don't feel you have to drop it just because of my review. Do what feels right for you! And thanks for commenting on my review.
You’re so funny don’t go bald. Favourite line: Secondly, whatever tracking device the FL is using, I want one! Any time the FL is in mortal danger, either the ML or her sifu will come to her rescue. It is uncanny. I agree with everything you said!
Love and SwordRating: 3/10 (1 point for the cool kid, 1 point for the ending concept, 1 point for the first 4…
reading the reviews and comments and everyone loved it🥹 low-key felt crazy but everyone with their own opinions. It wasn't for me but there are a bunch of people enjoying it.
my thoughts while watching this:(it's negative so in case you can't handle opinions, then don't read it. Obviously…
Love and Sword Rating: 3/10 (1 point for the cool kid, 1 point for the ending concept, 1 point for the first 4 fun episodes)
Overall: A frustrating mess with glacial pacing, a infuriatingly dumb FL, and wasted potential. The final reveal is rushed into the last episode after countless hours of filler.
The Play-by-Play (My Raw Thoughts) The Beginning (Eps 1-12): Promising, Then Disappointing
The start was fun! A girl gets transported to another world.
The FL is energetic, but also a dummy and childish. By Ep. 11, she has had ZERO character development. Finally, some progress with her wielding a sword!
Ep. 12 (28:54): She wakes up in her original world?! Ep. 12 (31:30): Her crying doesn't seem real? Her face is just frowning but there are no tears! 🤓
I wish the development of her feelings was slower. It's only Episode 12 and she already wants to stay in this world just because the ML is in it? Why is it always the woman longing?
On a positive note: I love the songs in this cdrama. Ep. 12 (32:40), this song is a chef's kiss 💋. And the opening song is so good! I approve.
The Middle (Eps 13-18): Where My Patience Died
I hope she becomes more independent or at least stronger. I am longing for character development! Ep. 13 (2:55): That f*cking b*tch. When I catch you, Ricky! I think she knew why he left. The FL is crying? I am hoping for a character development 😛
So the man had to go away for her brain to start working? For her to finally start practicing? Ep. 13 (8:09): Bro, for real? He is the leader of Tiangang. No worries! 🤠 I can already guess it. Oh, he's mysterious. That's his way of protecting her and making her be close to him, I bet.(when he asked t marry her)
Finally, the FL is acting mature? Ep. 13 (10:03): No, my love! He wants you. Ep. 13 (11:41): So you started loving her when she changed? When she was weak? Jerk. I don't like Shaoci. F*ck you.
I wish we could get a glimpse of the original girl in the FL's body. She seemed badass, but it's unlikely we'll see her possess it again. Ep. 13 (35:40): Why are we wasting time doing childish shit like interrogating one of the attackers? And the FL is acting childish again?
Ep. 14 (6:23): Why did they let their attacker go free? And now she's tied up the FL? No survival instincts. Because of the FL's stupidity, she got captured by the villain. Are you playing with my nerves? So the villain is actually the reason why the FL and ML are alive? And they're just going to leave him alive? The FL is becoming dumber and dumber. She just untied him? This man could have ended both of them. So now the villain is becoming friends with the main characters?
Ep. 14 (30:10): So now the FL has lost her brain cells again and would go around the world with the ML? Girl, didn't you say you would marry to help your manor? When she meets the ML she loses all her brain cells. Even the ML is telling her she isn't using her brain! Please, girl, use it.
Why is this turning into a comedy? They could have easily killed the villain but obviously didn't—how else would they drag this out?
Ep. 15 (28:10): The FL finally tells the ML she isn't from this world, which I like. But because of the childish way she says it, he doesn't take her seriously 😒. There's dumb music playing in the background. Why does she have to act childish all the time?
Eps 16-24: Dragged Out and Illogical
Ep. 16 (10:45): The small kid the ML saved is becoming one of my favorite characters. He has swag. If the ML doesn't tell the FL he's the leader, I'll take it as him not taking her seriously 😒.
The sick girl is obviously the spy. She tried to poison the kid who was working with the villain! The kid told you! Does that not ring a bell? It's all to drag this out.
Currently on Ep 17. For about 3 episodes, we've been doing the same boring shit. How long will they drag this out until she finally marries the Tiangang leader? Bitch, this is pissing me off (PMO).
So the FL's maid was a spy. The ML let her go free after she was proven to have betrayed the FL. The maid is working with the sick girl (Young Lady Lin), who is also a villain. Letting her live served no purpose. And because they let her leave, the maid now has a knife to the FL's throat.
This had so much potential! Even after the maid learned it wasn't the FL's fault for her parents' deaths, she still colluded with the enemy. She knew who she should go after once the ML told her.
Ep. 17 (11:46):
FL: "Would you be willing to give up everything for an obsession?" 💀😭
The irony! You should ask that to yourself because that's exactly what you are doing.
Oh, the ML said he would, and the FL agreed that she would too? Bruh.
FL: "So what you are saying is that I am the most useless and always need protection?"
Gurl 💀 Yes, you do. Sadly, the writers decided to make you trash and obsessed with a man since episode 4.(this sound a bit mean...it's just my opinion. No offense)
The ML answers that she is not? Please, bro, stop lying to her. She needs to use that brain. She has done almost nothing useful until now.
Small note: The sick girl's name is Young Lady Lin. That's how they always refer to her. She's always plotting, but nothing ever happens.
Oh, hell yeah, the writers couldn't hold back! A woman who loves the villain and would do anything for him, even though he doesn't notice her. She seems like a cool character just wasted on this pitiful "love".
Ep. 17 (28:25): The FL uses her power? What a blessing. (Sarcasm) The writers decided to make the FL use her power randomly. This is so disappointing.
Ep. 18 (14:05): Oh, what a new idea! The ML has to choose between saving himself or the FL? I already know the answer. 😗 Obviously, the medicine to heal him is something really rare that takes 30 years to grow!
Ep. 18 (21:27): Oh, finally! He told her he was the disciple of her mother. Bro took 18 episodes to say five words. Oh, girly finally tells him she isn't the girl he's been searching for all along. Finally, something serious. The ML's face is literally like this: 👁️👄👁️ Did he just force her to eat the medicine? I don't know if I want to be furious or disappointed.
Ep. 18 (32:10): Even now, the FL can't save anything or protect herself. Ep. 18 (34:50): The ML finally decides to use his brain and suspect Young Lady Lin as a traitor. Why is she so fixated on the ML? Again! A woman obsessed with a man! Do women not have anything else to value except men?
Ep. 19 (8:50): I do feel bad for Lady Lin. Wanting to be like someone else is an endless torture. Maybe in another life, she can have a strong body and travel the world like she wanted. Bro, the villains are still alive? This is just repetitive. They attack, the good guys kill some, the villains leave and come back later. At least in the start, they were actually planning.
Ep. 19 (15:40): The FL randomly uses her martial arts? I know the cure helped her heal from the poison, but how does she magically know how to kill? All this time, the FL hasn't killed anyone, but now she does? Now that she's away from the ML, she's acting a bit serious.
Let me guess what's going to happen! The ML will die in this world and wake up in the FL's world, and the FL will wake back up in her original world, and they will be together. Now he is sick and dying.
Lady Lin is still calculating her bullshit? All of this could have been avoided if they had just put her in a cell. 🥹
Ep. 20: Yep, obviously he was the leader. I knew it. But why is he not showing the FL he is the leader? This makes no sense. Just tell her! She will be happy. I know you're dying, but bro, I have had enough of this stupidity. The ML is wearing a mask to hide himself from the FL. Why, bro? What does that even help? Just dragging it. The ML is so stubborn not to show his face; it's annoying 😭.
Ep. 21 (7:08): Finally! Yes, FUCKING YES! Someone said it! The ML's guard finally tells him: "If you marry her as Chu Tianyao, you're hurting both yourself and her." Someone with brain cells! All of this could have been avoided if the ML could just communicate.
Ep. 21 (16:28): The ML says he was jealous of himself? 👁️👄👁️ (Jealous of his leader persona, Chu Tianyao). This just sounds immature, and the drama just dismisses it. The ML doesn't care that the FL isn't the original person in her body. This makes me feel bad for the original owner. I would have rather seen her story than the FL's.
Ep. 21 (28:40): A flashback of the original owner of the FL's body. She is so badass! We lost the chance to see a baddie 😞. Why did they make her seem like a softie? At least she knew how to fight, and people said she wasn't one to get involved with.
Ep. 24: And the villain is still undefeated and thriving? 😀 And that Young Lady Lin is still free? Ep. 24 (27:05): And the FL randomly uses her martial arts like an expert? These skills just come back whenever they're needed.
The whole time, the ML couldn't stop lying. Liar.
Oh yeah, I was right. He woke up in her original world and started to remember what happened. He finds her in the hospital; in this world, he is a doctor.
Final thoughts: Such a disaster and a disgrace.
My biggest complaint is the pace is really slow. They actually reveal everything in the last episode and give 70% of the screentime to that bitch! The reaction when they found out the mastermind was so quiet and awkward.
It would've been better if the last 2 eps were a war between the 6 sects and Ghost Valley, with the actual mastermind dying after her cover was blown. That bitch died too easily, and Shen Zuitian's sudden burst of power was out of place. In short, a waste of my time!
my thoughts while watching this: (it's negative so in case you can't handle opinions, then don't read it. Obviously is full of spoilers and apologies for the curses. I don't have the energy to censor them)
I feel bad for the ML! His sister revealing he’s been depressed all these years. We need a reveal for Who the sister is talking about marrying?! I need to knowwww
The dubbing voice shows emotion but her face shows nothing
Her mouth moves like it hurts
Her eyes are constantly wide open in a way that feels unsettling
I wished the ML (who i feel like CAN act) was paired with someone who could match him
I DIDNT specifically feel this way for her in Princess Gambit. I am not being based. I literally started this cdrama before Princess Gambit. "Also, if you say that the drama succeeded only because of the male lead, then the same logic should apply to Princess Gambit, where people said it was carried by the male lead.
(it's negative so in case you can't handle opinions, then don't read it. Obviously is full of spoilers and apologies for the curses. I don't have the energy to censor them)
We need a reveal for Who the sister is talking about marrying?! I need to knowwww
