Unpopular Opinion

Okay unpopular opinion here- but I’m not too big a fan of this series.

First off- I want to acknowledge that the cast is excellent- their acting is brilliant, and the production value, music etc everything is really good. That’s why I had such high hopes.

Unfortunately my experience is not too good- primary reason being the storyline. The plot feels just way too twisted. But more than that- Pleng’s character bothers me. Again I don’t think it’s on the actress- rather the story or the screenplay. The whole burden, effort, personality and action all exist in Wan’s character- and Pleng is just someone ‘along for the ride’ She doesn’t seem devastated when leaving Pleng- in fact she comes across as a very self- absorbed and afraid- a character lacking any opinions or motivations. She is also quite horrible to Wan many times- who is obviously head over heels from the get.

I don’t know how different the novel is- I will read it soon- but Pleng’s character just put me off from the show. It feels like a one-sided love story to me.

Brilliant, Underrated Series

When I started watching- I hadn't even heard about it- no promos or anything. I love GAP so it was strange. I think I've watched every GL out there, and this is perhaps one of the best.

It's such a difficult topic, handled with such maturity and beauty. I have to add that personally I'm a bit uncomfortable with age gap stories myself but in this one- so was the lead- her perspective came across so beautifully that I couldn't help but root for both of them. The actresses are both fabulous, the chemistry, flow and everything seems natural. Especially Faye Peraya. And the direction is also brilliant- her reserved character comes off so well. The tender scenes are done in absolute silence- which only add to realness of it. I was amazed at the brilliance of this GL from nowhere.

The Best GL

I’m a big GL fan and I watch pretty much everything in the genre. But this show truly stands out. The storyline is exceptional, and so is the cast and acting. This is one of the only shows that keeps you hooked in every way- not just the chemistry between leads (which is also fantastic and feels so natural)

I think this is the absolute best GL series. I only hope the ending is not sad- because I read some discussions that it might be. Fingers crossed.

It’s a gem of a show though, and I wish they had more episodes or a second season because of how wonderful it is.

Having finished it- I have to add that I loved it just as much, although the book ending was better than the show (as it usually is)
After all- who wants to see Kie at the end?

I wish it would have finished on a scene oriented towards Wa and Four. Or had more intimate/ cute scenes between them. Short of that- the show was absolute perfection

HANDS DOWN THE BEST GL

I wasn't expecting much of this show. There are so many GLs airing right now- that I thought this would be my casual watch in between Whale Store or Harmony's Secret. But Shelley had me hooked. The way she acts, and looks at Pundao- the two of them together- they make this show a compelling watch. This show has everything that I wanted as an audience. It has crazy chemistry, complex emotions, genuine characters with mature human emotions that feel real and relatable. At first, I was watching it just for the chemistry and then I started appreciating other things about the show as well, like the very mature storyline, of course brilliant performances from the whole cast and finally a very real maturity that normally doesn’t exist in Thai GLs. I found myself crying with the show, like the characters actually transferred their emotions. I also found it quite refreshing how they could talk about sex and it was not a hidden and dirty term. I like the physical urgency- it was also very relatable. If someone asked me earlier, what my favourite GL was, I was normally confused between Us because of the cute scenes and the great performances or Blank simply for the chemistry or the Secret of Us for incredible acting production value and storyline or even Pluto for all of the same reasons. I think my mind switched between shows based on the mood I was in, but I never had a clear winner. After watching this show, I am certain that I have not seen anything better, including the new shows airing now. This truly has been beyond fantastic and I highly highly recommended it.

ABSOLUTE GEM

This show is perfect. I’ve never seen a better GL. The acting, chemistry, drama, music- everything is on point. Characters are mature and understanding. There are small interactions between the leads that really feel like a couple in love and everything is so subtle that it’s a wonderful break from the usual.

Basically there’s no unnecessary drama, mostly very mature characters, no parents focused on breaking up a couple. It’s just a brilliantly written and acted piece displaying human emotions and interactions very well.

I could’ve never imagined a series would be sooooo good. When the world of Thai GLs started with Gap- it was life changing. But I also accepted that this genre would be sometimes weird or dramatic or not well acted- basically some caveat. And towards the end most of these shows get really bad and cringe before the happy end. This show didn’t give me a single cringe moment. I think it’s absolutely brilliant

Unfortunately Disappointing

Maybe just my perspective- but considering how excited I was to watch this show, I was a little disappointed by the overall storyline, the performances- everything. There seemed to be something missing. When Thai GLs are consistently raising the bar by wither improving storylines, acting or chemistry- this one I felt did neither. It was on the same level as their previous shows. I wish it had more- I really enjoy Milk and Love, and want to see them perform roles and storylines they deserve.

LingOrm are great, but not the show

So disappointing. I think I am mirroring everyone who is a big fan of the actresses- they are so good together. Which is why it's so confusing to understand what went wrong with the show? The storyline had potential but somehow it turned out so slow and boring. The actresses who have effortless chemistry on their previous show, and even in promotions- they are just lacking that in this show. The only thing I can come up with is that something went wrong in the direction- because these actresses are undoubtedly brilliant. It's sad because LingOrm are among the best in the GL genre, and with so much competition- their potential was wasted on a subpar show.

Let me be clear- it's not a terrible show, but it's just not upto their mark. I would expect this from an amateur channel, or new actresses maybe- but not Channel 3 or LingOrm. This show might have done well when there were no GLs and fans would've accepted anything- but with the quantity and quality of shows releasing- it fails. And it's such a shame because so many new shows and actresses are brilliant already- so LingOrm show should've said a higher bar. I feel like the direction failed them.

I hope the channel/ teams sees these reviews and makes shows that are upto the mark for the actresses they have hired. I will watch anything with LingOrm in it together- but they have to make better shows if they want to keep up with the competition. Frankly the best part of the show is the chemistry between Ling and her 3 employees. If only they had made the scenes between Ling and Orm feel so natural.

GREAT SHOW

Okay we definitely more GLs like this. This is the content that I didn’t realise I needed and have been so badly waiting for. The setting and storyline is so good that it keeps you totally hooked. Normally I restrain myself with new shows and only watch once they’ve finished airing or midway through but I couldn’t help myself a few minutes into this- and binged all episodes that were out instantly.

I love the acting of all the characters so far and the drama was at bare minimum which is such a positive point for a Thai GL. Only the last few episodes seemed to stretch on for no reason- unfortunately it fell to the pattern of GLs which just do something to destroy the ending episodes.

But I still appreciate the mystery storyline, and liked the show

Brilliant Acting

I started this show not expecting much. Whenever there are many GLs- I watch a little of each, and then decide the order by watching the one I like least first, and saving the one I like best for last. This time- each show airing seemed so great, that I automatically assumed this wouldn't rank high, but I was wrong.

This show has some of the best acting I have ever seen in a GL. I think the characters come across as really genuine, and that is rare in the Thai GL world of overstated drama. While they can't compete with the Emi-Bonnie, Faye-Yoko level of chemistry- the overall show is pretty good, strong storyline, slow but interesting build-up, not the kind where you want to skip ahead. Side note- This is also the show where I've shipped the secondary couple the hardest- I love their screen time, and wouldn't mind more of it.

I am really enjoying this show so far. Fingers crossed.

Why ONLY 6?

This show is fun. Orm and Folk are so good- their chemistry is effortless and amazing and they just flow together. It’s pure joy to watch. The added bonus is the sporting characters. The brother and his friends and Orm’s friends in the show are all delightful characters that have acted well and make the show, funny and relatable

Had Potential But…

I LOVED Reverse 4 you. I thought it was deeply underrated and didn’t get all the love and fame it deserved. So when I heard of Reverse with me- I was super excited and ‘saving it’ for a proper watch. The first episode was great! I loved the acting, the opening credits scene etc. From second onwards- it got slower. I hated that they were just giving so much screen time to side characters and repeating the storyline of the main characters unnecessarily. I still have hope and will continue to watch- but I already know it could’ve been so much better.
