I really liked reading this discussion thread because it shows how thought provoking this drama is and how we…
What a way to end the thread! :) Shiyi has flaws, Xiaoju has flaws, all characters have flaws and thats why the drama feels so warm and real. Every person in the drama made mistakes bc that is how humans work. We make mistakes and learn lessons from them. These little sorrows, regrets are what makes us grow. Thats why I felt like the ending phrase was lacking. It did not feel like they were more grown versions of themselves and everything was a bit rush. However, the main point is that how one can find the character they empathise with and relate them easily.

I don't want to change your opinion, it's your POV, i respect.I just add mine, - From the first of his confession…
Taotao was such an amazing Sfl, I loved her personality and mind so much! As for our main couple their interactions were so cute but seeing how they were still both immature after the time lapse.. I came to the conclusion that they were not ready for a relationship

Definitely agree. After all these years, no character development no growth, they are like the same as they were in the college and the beach part also frustrated me.. it didn't add to the story anything and caused more misunderstanding like what was the point?? One of the reasons why we felt unsatisfied is bc of how draggy the show became for the last 3 eps 🤦🏻‍♀️ They wasted lots of opportunities and the leads' chemistry with this ending :(

I agree with the confession part, he should have thought it thru but I also can understand his rush. He thought he was gonna loose his chance forever which in turn caused him to get a bit shameless about the whole relationship thing. He always respected the FL tho. Her decisions, her feelings, even for CL. Thats why he had waited for years before making a move and by the time he did it, he knew that she was falling in love with him without even realizing it.If he had thought he did not have a chance even a slightly bit, he would have back off just like he said. Besides, there were many cases that Shiyi could have just misunderstood but even though he got angry and hurt, he chose to listen her first. The only time he didnt listen was when he saw them together and went to abroad. Even then he did not cause her any trouble although he thought that she still loves CL and just straight got out her life. In turn, even the times she hurt him she always chose to stay silent and was not willing to speak up. Lets not emphasize only the pain she endured when Shiyi got so much hurt during their friendship and relationship phrases too.

Agreed! She was just so dense and dumb no character growth really immature for a grown women. While it’s cute…
I was not implying only confession tho? She would have talked about how miserable she felt when he left without saying goodbye, how she had regrets etc.she should have at least just try to communicate with him.

ikr.. Just finished the drama and I thought she would get better when she became an adult but no. All these years passing with a heavy heart due to the regret over not confessing him and the moment he comes back, she doesnt even try to explain her feelings? She has lots of personality issues and one of them is definitely her weakness in communication. How can one expects so much without even giving anything? I just don't understand her logic. I didn't read the novel but I guess at least ML had more respect for himself and did the right thing by moving on pfft.

Half away through the show, I was going to give it a 9 rate because it reminded me of When were young-which is one of my fav shows ever- and the overall vibe of the show is just soooo warm but after the second half I started to get bored and frustrated by the FL. Shiyi is probably one of the most well written non-toxic MLs and witnessing how FL treats him even in the 29th ep WOOAAHH I was speechless. There are only 6 eps left but I feel so wronged that even though I know they will be the endgame, I don't want to see them as a couple anymore. Instead of 9, I'm gonna rate the show 7 and all the credit goes to the ML.

I want them to hv a photoshoot together 😭
it is due to Yanjun's agency.. He is trying to leave but they won't let him so there have been lots of conflicts, unfortunately. In the meantime, he can't promote in China :( I was afraid that even the drama would be pushed back again but thankfully it aired at least.

up to the ep5, am I the only one thinking that the drama is too dark?? I guess they used dark shades ? which throws me off a little bit. Overall, it hasn't captured me yet, I hope further eps will be better

is there romance between 2nd male lead, Hao Du with the princess Li Le Yan. Or just wishful thinking there can…
there is!! Personally, I think they had the best character development and it was so nice to watch them getting closer.

The characters are so well-written and the storyline is unexpectedly so good. I mean starting from the beginning, even though they act nice, you can sense that some of the characters will turn bad and nice verse. King was definitely one of my favs and from the start, we could sense that he is not all bad. that's why I loved how the writer wrote every character. I didn't even get bored and the funny moments were seriously the best. In addition to laughing genially most of the time, I shed some real tears in the last eps. I'm gonna miss the show and their friendship so much!
On The Long Ballad May 12, 2021
I came right after finishing the last ep and.. I must say that The Long Ballad is probably the most well-done costume drama ever. I'm not talking about high wages so on rather how the story continues smoothly in every single episode and how actors nail every single scene.. Literally shocking. I started watching 2 days ago and when I had realized that I was binge-watching it was too late lol. Pros to every actor and staff! What a notable drama! Leilei was terrific as usual and Reba represented Changge in the best way possible. Every character shined through the run, thank you for everyone's hard work! Can't wait to see Wu Lei in another drama!!

OMG what is with the bad reviews?!?!!! I just dropped by to say that don't drop this drama bc of all the negativity. It is really good. Actually I expected to see nothing but good things on this page but I guess everyone has different criteria... Idk I love Yuan's acting and the story line . My baby is doing a good job. I have watched 24 eps so far, I hope it continues to keep gettşng interesting ^^
