So much agree with you, it's honestly so silly how people get so bent out of shape over a bit of a age gap. Hell just watch Cutie Pie, Zee and NuNew's chemistry near blew me away, plus everyone got so bent out of shape about the whole Jeff and Barcode being paired together and that was the most PG bloody pairing I've ever seen, they are both absolutely adorable. Age differences aren't a big thing anymore especially in the real world.
I have a 5 year diff with my partner, I have a friend who has a 8 year diff with hers and another friend who is 10 years older than her girlfriend. It's absolutely nothing in this day and age to be older or younger than your significant other.

Honestly it could be plenty of reasons, perhaps they didn't want to go there with their relationship, perhaps they didn't have the chemistry to make it work, perhaps the director wanted someone with more experience in the role. We don't know, plus 31 isn't that bloody old jeez, I feel sorry for poor Mew now lol, he's hardly the only actor to act with someone alot younger, hell a couple of them have great chemistry together. As you even said it's acting so really what has their ages got to do with anything, they are just playing a role.

And yet there is 9 years between Zee and NuNew and they're chemistry was phenomenal I honestly remember no awkwardness, plus of course you have Max and Nat, Jeff and Barcode, plenty of BL pairings with significant age differences. It's hardly something new, who gives a crap about someone's age, they are acting after all. It isn't real. Perhaps they placed him with Mew because of his acting experience, or perhaps the two group members didn't want to be a couple in the show. There could be many reasons, how about we watch the show and wait to cast judgment.
