Zhang has to be important to the story in some way other than being XJS’s vessel. I wonder if he’s related to the flatbread shopkeeper named Zhang. FLE’s father is awful. Telling her he’d protect her like he told LQY when he tried to force her to marry him.
I believe Heavenly Emissary is who BJS was referring to when he said lower ranking Immortals have ascended to Empyrean before them. BJS is about order so naturally he defers to him but SL is rebellious and defers to no one especially not the higher ups

I think that after he placed that seal someone put SL under an illusion. He’s extremely thorough and knew impregnating her would harm her. But SL went through the birth , death & grief as a mother-it’s the perfect chance for others to use her as their knife
Qing Yang feels trapped by her seniors, who fear her tattling on them to SL. Xuan Wei defends her, saying she belongs there, and QY even offers to be their messenger to get an antidote from Canglei Palace. Later on she’s murdered, and it looks like Long Yuan did it, but I think she was silenced. LY is the over-the-top Diva of the series. I’m also curious about her comment that her crush took things from her and gave it to another woman—I'm guessing it’s the book, since it wasn’t SL’s voice reading it. I think she’s a bit like SL when she LQY: there’s a lot of truths in her nonsense.
After sparing with ZS, SL tells him he’s several times stronger than before his foundation was damaged. It seems she was aware of him before she became LQ
Theory: ZS can open the seal because of his master XJS. When Suling was reading those books we didn’t hear her voice it was from the author of the book and it sounds a lot like SuLing’s master QY. Going back to the Monkey, he’s very suspicious. I believe he was QY in disguise. Feng Linger didn’t share her suspicions about ZS as far as we know but I believe she will put together that XJS is the creator of the artifacts but QY dropped an Easter egg: he stole her work. Imo XJS seems to be better at fighting & dark energy; QY comes off like a wandering drunk but she’s wise & hasn’t shown her cultivation level yet. She’s probably bitterly in love with XJS so she’s still cooperating with him. If she can transform into the monkey spirit; she might have been the golden phoenix that ruined ZS cultivation.
A few minutes into 21 and I had to go back to 20 just to make sure I wasn’t crazy. I knew he was off 😂 but then again I also think there’s someone dressing up as others at times. I’ve felt that way about Su Ling’s master and about what Suling said about immortals trying to kill her.

I think the Meng’s were the catalyst for her love of mortals but you can tell from Jingyun sect she wants equality for all and realizes there are good and evil beings no matter their background.
If you go back & pay attention to SuLing’s master’s story it doesn’t make sense for her to have been in the dark about everything. Plus as her Master why didn’t she go fight?
I’m really enjoying Fan Linger’s character! She’s like a master puppeteer, skillfully keeping everything under wraps while reading the room flawlessly. When Ning Yan and the little demon tried to dig for info, she didn’t give away a thing! I have a feeling she might have even let herself get caught on purpose.
As for the real troublemakers behind the mains' chaos, I suspect Lin Mo, SuLing’s master, and that shady Empyrean messenger. Lin Mo seems nice, but there’s an air of insincerity about him. SuLing’s master has shifted from an indifferent drunk to trying to insert herself into SuLing’s life—super sketchy! Xuan Wei seems to be on guard around her, too. And the Empyrean messenger? He’s definitely giving off those eunuch coup vibes!
Also, Long Yuan’s name is so intriguing! It ties into the grumpy dragon theory while giving off a “Lord Longyang” vibe. At this point, he feels like the rival female of the series.
Zhang Suan's was brutally attacked by a gold phoenix. His path intersects with Xiao Jing Shan's due to Fan LingEr whose SuLing’s secret right hand. His master XiaoJing’s past is marked by a deep seated hatred for birds and Bia Jiu Si. He warns Zhang that his enemy is ruthless. He was a former renowned artificer(same as Fan LingEr), he was imprisoned for attempting to destroy the Immortal Stele – the very relic Bia Jiu Si guards. Even though he tells Zhang about his past as a human he conventionally leaves out what happened in the Nine Heavens. We only know he was an artificer and then a prisoner because of the Immortals. Zhang's training under XiaoJing seems like personal revenge. Bia Jiu Si's connections to birds also run deep – a colorful phoenix, white crane, and possibly the golden phoenix. Bia Jiu Si’s first attack on Zhang Suan over the fruit seems overboard and personal, suggesting Zhang's identity holds a secret or Bia Jiu Si sees him as a threat. Zhang’s sect acknowledges his lost potential and want him to ascend. Later on we see that Bai Jiu Si is jealous of his connection to his wife but doesn’t focus on killing him. He just uses his life to try to get Suling to shed her disguise. Fan LingEr's protection of him raises questions to me as well – is this loyalty to Suling or ulterior motives? I also found it odd that Ning Yan is so comfortable with him. He knocked her out and made things worse trying to escape with her mistress plus she’s technically supposed to be loyal to Bai Jiu Si but everything she’s done has been for her mistress. It’s odd. I almost feel like she’s connected to that old peach tree in the mortal realm.
There’s something off about Lin Mo—he seems to have layers that we haven’t fully uncovered yet despite him resolving his tribulation. And Long Yuan’s protectiveness toward his Master is such an intriguing angle; maybe there’s a unrequited love story layered within the plot! The fact that even the other immortals find him strange adds to the tension. Or maybe he’s that grumpy dragon she killed that’s trying to exact revenge ! Either way it would be an interesting dynamic, especially if her husband had to take him on as a disciple as some kind of penance. It’s all so deliciously complicated! Can’t wait to see where this goes! 😂✨
