It's been a while since I was this excited about a director. I've been trying to find my "new" Takashi Miike. I think this it. Khavn is the kind of anarchic punk-as-fuck guerilla style filmaker I want right now. And you know what? He has over 100 directing credits under his name. There's a lot to explore for a Khavn newbie like myself. This movie has a few bonus. Tadanobu Asano, one of my favorite Japanese actors, always filling the screen with his charisma and badass cool looking attitude. Nathalia Acevedo has a really good screen presence, and I remember her from the Carlos Reygadas movie "Post Tenebras Lux". The cinematography by Christopher Doyle is exactly what you can expect. The cherry on top is the cool soundtrack. An amazing punk'n'roll opera, with a great cast, fantastic cinematography, and a killer soundtrack. Yes, I want more Khavn. Now!
Super funny and upbeat comedy about a group of middled-aged men with a crush on a college girl. They bring their small town upside down trying to play lacrosse to impress the girl. Don't expect a cinematic masterpiece because this is just a light-hearted and fun little flick. The entire cast is amazing and one couldn't expect any less from scene stealers such as Akira Emoto, Masatô Ibu or Yu Tokui, among others.
This does not translate well to live action. :( My humble opinion? Go for the anime version. I already watched it twice in a few weeks and it's so freaking funny. This live action was quite a chore to watch.
I know one it's "Wonderland" from Dream Ami.
There are 2 more. Which ones? This is a screen capture from the final credits: https://img86.pixhost.to/images/15/348921425_vlcsnap-2023-04-23-19h31m56s766.png
