Hmmm okey some of these tropes comes with the genre, not only in Taiwanese bl's, I have noticed. No worries I love angst 🤧 It started with thai BL, by now I have watched some Korean and Japanese as well! I will keep the Taiwanese rec's in mind to explore them more thank yew ☺️

You put my thoughts into words perfectly! I couldn't really put a finger on what the show lacked, because I did enjoy it, but I also knew it wasn't entirely good. I did found the exact things you listed very questionable, but still gave it a chance. (the reminders he was 17 and calling him kiddo during hot scenes didn't help 😅). Yes, so many things that could have been more fleshed out to make the story so much more rich :/

With the beer thing they put it out there explicitly, which afterwards indeed made sense for a lighter sentence when he took the blame. I had a bombastic sideeye moment when Rui says kiddo during the intimate scenes...but maybe it's a stereotypical BL dynamic 🤷🏻‍♀️ Their relationship was cute, and it did feel more appropriate later one!

I feel like I'm the only one that was uncomfortable with the age gap, especially with how much the story highlighted he wa a minor 😭 this was my first Taiwanese BL to watch and I heard a lot about it. Very entertaining and epi 9 had me in my feels. The couples' dynamic were respectively cute and enticing. Storywise it could have made more sense! 🍰

Idk it felt like a typical kdrama to me (the 360 turn around slow motion for a dry kiss in ep12?). It fell more into that innocent romance type of content than being scared of male intimacy specifically imo (cuz that can also be headkisses and hand holding).
