Can you explain what makes current korean dramas more western? The reason why Netflix is trying to produce it's…
I agree with lustdrama about the general warmth of the newer dramas. However, in my comment I didn’t say that the only dramas that would be affected is the ones produced Netflix I think all dramas will be affected which is only natural. I don’t really watched the dramas produced by Netflix (and by the way it’s a lot more than3) the one I did watch I didn’t like. Also Netflix has started Splitting a whole drama into ‘seasons’ generally dramas don’t really have that. I know a few do buts it’s not that common. Lastly , there’s been a shift in the new dramas it’s very slight But it feels like they’re becoming less creatively driven and more about the commercial side of things. I’ve been watching Dramas for 10 years and the reason I shifted from UK/American tv is because it lacks that heart Korean dramas have.

I agree that dramas are going in a more western direction. I remember voicing this as a concern back in 2016/17 (can’t remember which year) when I heard that Netflix would start producing dramas. That’s when it hit me that the hallyu wave is obviously going to have consequences and that the ‘koreaness‘ that pulled us into dramas away from the capitalism of western tv would most likely be affected.
