"take one step at a time — this time, follow lusi
step into nature, into the countryside, into the crowd, and into the heart. to see the children eager to grow and those who stay true to their purpose. in the faint light, discover courage. in moving forward, feel warmth.
through a journey of courage, warmth, and healing, grow and heal together by living, empathising, and walking alongside ordinary people. find the courage to face the world once again.
小小的勇气 (a little courage) belongs to lusi — she accompanies, listens, and turns warmth into strength a little courage belongs to you and me — bravery doesn’t have to be grand, but it’s enough to light the way ahead.
From cooking, room cleaning to coloring her friends' hair, I'm glad Lusi is spending her time with the people she loves. I'm so happy she's sharing these little tidbits of her life with us! Keep smiling, baobei!

Then it was CP fans’s wrongdoings… CP fans are like that , people will find them very annoying because they’re devoted to the CP and upset other pairings from related actors actresses. Just ignore them for your own good
the first time was in 2017. I was helping a hongkong director write a film, and one day he excitedly told me, "screenwriter, you have to see this little girl acting as qiu yue, she cries so well!"
that little girl was zhao lusi. she was the lead actress in a movie I personally thought was a mess, though in reality, she was there to support a cast of veteran hongkong actors.
I visited the set, which was in the now-demolished kowloon walled city, and watched her sweating profusely while suspended on wires. at that time, she still had a baby face, looking a bit chubby and always smiling at everyone she met.
that hongkong director, who had a bit of an old-school, streetwise charm, was known on set as "ma ge". he pointed at her with great confidence and told me, "I swear, that girl is going to be a star!"
ma ge wasn't considered a very reliable director & his film still hasn’t been released to this day. but his prediction turned out to be accurate. the second time I met zhao lusi, she was already on the verge of fame.
by then, I had started working on more respectable films. during the casting for one of my romance movies, I enthusiastically recommended zhao lusi, almost like a doting mother.
that was during the peak of china's box office boom, and the team felt she wasn’t famous enough yet. but they still called her in for an audition.
and so, I saw her again. this time, her baby fat was gone, but she was just as lively and engaging as before. at that point, I don’t think she was struggling with depression yet. her eyes still had that hunger, that drive of someone on the brink of making it big.
not long after, she did. first with the romance of tiger and rose, then a string of romance dramas. she finally fulfilled ma ge's prophecy: that girl is going to be a big star
but the industry gossip wasn’t all positive. sometimes, while working on sets in hengdian, I’d hear gossips from other crew members about zhao lusi. they would say, "she works like crazy, she pushes herself so hard!"
it’s not necessarily a good thing for a person to endure too much. because even if you can endure it, there will always be more hardship waiting for you.
later, I emigrated and became semi-retired from the industry.
this year, I saw her name trending on weibo, and a wave of emotions hit me. there are many things about this industry that I can’t put into words…
I just suddenly remembered that summer of 2017. that little girl with baby fat, running over to me drenched in sweat, sometimes deliberately using a thick sichuanese accent to joke around.

When someone went out sailing in the past, it took years to return, sometimes, they died in the sea, their ship mostly sank because it wasn’t strong enough when the storm came… so it make sense
