Bro I agree with you 💯 percent. I will tell you something I am assure of it that they have developed feelings…
I mean you're entitled to feel however you want about them. Im just saying how I see it. They have a great dynamic but it definitely feels firmly in the friend zone to me. And then her teams quick response to any speculation this time kinda validated it. For me anyway.
But as I said you can see it how you want! Enjoy the promo period and all that comes with it. 😂

Really? I like them in the drama but I dont think they give off that vibe at all in real life. If anything they have "buddies" vibes. Almost sibling like imo 😅 Bai Lu also shut that down very quickly last year when there was a random hs.
If you like dark/antihero/morally grey ML's this one is hard to beat. If you drop, you're gonna miss out on some…
If it's a trope you love, you've probably already watched most of them. This is something I really like in all my fiction but I don’t think it’s done well very often.
If we're only talking about C-Drama, the dramas I’ve watched that have characters and dynamics like this are; Goodbye My Princess. I enjoyed the drama though I'm not sure I'd call him "morally grey" by the end. He's pretty awful. The Rise of Phoenixes, Two of the main love interests (ML and third ML) in Lost You Forever fit the bill very well, Bloody Romance. Whether you find the ML’s “better” or not will vary. Currently watching The King's Woman which also fits this, but it’s still too early to form an opinion on it.
I’ve not seen Till the end of the moon which people always talk about. But I liked Leo in Ashes of Love, where he played the beautifully twisted and messed up (and pitiful) second ML. He was more interesting than the ML. So I will probably get to watching it at some point.
Whether you find these "romantic" or not is going to be down to personal opinion. And not all of them have a happy ending. Most of the time censorship doesn’t seem to like giving happy endings to “bad” people, I guess. But if I think the drama is good, this isn’t always a necessity for me.

I love dark/antihero/morally grey ML's. They're my favourite. I also love slow burn and fiery relationships. And I adore political dramas. But this drama was still very underwhelming to me. Sure it had some moments where it shined, but overall.... eh...
I'm not sure I'd label this a romance either as they don't interact that much. This doesn't actually bother me as romance is not necessary. But even when the leads finally did get together, right at the end, it didn't feel entirely earned to me. Something felt off about it. I didn't buy it. Even the ML, who I started off intrigued by, ended up irritating me. I found him a little pathetic. And not in a way that endears me.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the drama or what I'd even rate it.... I can understand people wanting to drop it, I had those feelings and kept pushing on anyway.
Wut? No chemistry? Those two were eating each other up in the drama, I was clutching my pearls during their kiss…
To be fair, there is a lot more to chemistry than just good kisses. And to be honest, though Bai Lu and Zhang Linghe can clearly kiss on screen - more often than not those kiss scenes looked awkward as hell. Instead of using the shots where it looked good, it was all weird angles and lips in weird awkward positions haha. Sort of odd and unnatural. The only kiss that I thought looked really good was the one when they were on the bed. Overall I actually thought they did have on-screen chemistry. Nothing that will top my list for greatest chemistry of all time or anything, but pretty good in comparison to some others that I've watched. But I didn't like how those kiss scenes were shot at all.
In episode 28 and it's still so so so boringOnly Lacaya part was great.
This is usually the kind of drama I love. But I often found it extremely boring. A drama with a really good message but it never quite delivers. The worst part is that it does have times where it's almost interesting, where you can see what it could have been. If the leads chemistry was stronger maybe I could have looked past how mind numbing it could be. Good actors but I feel like they're kind of wasted on this one. To be honest, I might have finished it just for Leo's face.
Maybe because Bailu is comfortable doing kiss scene with her costars. Not every actress or actor is comfortable…
The kiss scenes are bad in my opinion. But I don't think it's ridiculing her (or him) to express that. If someone was being unnecessarily nasty, mocking or mean spirited about it, then yeah I would say they were ridiculing her. But from what i've seen, people are just saying they think those scenes bad and weird and questioning why.
Romance can be good without having any kiss scenes at all. But if you have them, and one party looks completely not into it, then it does affect the romance. It’s about believability. I don't need a make out, but her response, or lack of a response, makes it seem like she doesn't want to do it. So it can come across as uncomfortable to a viewer. I don't know about you but I don't like seeing people forced to kiss someone they don't want to be kissing.
Some people won't mind it, but some people prefer something a little more realistic in a drama - both are fine!. Which is why it's okay for people to ask questions and express how they feel about this when looking at romance dramas on here.
In my opinion, not only are the kiss scenes not good, but the romantic scenes as a whole come across the same way. Awkward. They're officially in a relationship now, and it still sort of feels like that. (at least to me)

So it's ridiculing to simply state an opinion? Saying that you think the kiss scenes are bad is just stating an opinion on an aspect of the drama. Which is the whole purpose of the discussion boards no? Or are we only allowed to express praise here? This is tagged as a romance so the kiss scenes might be something that people are wanting to know.
Yeah acting is more than how good of a kisser you are. You can be a great kisser and a terrible actor. Which is why I said I think she's a decent actress. But if one character kisses the other and they don't respond in any way whatsoever and look like they don't want to be doing it, then it might affect whether an audience believes this character is in love.
It's cool if this doesn't bother you. But other people are allowed to say that they are dissatisfied or find them awkward. And it's not automatically being mean, a hater or ridiculing to do so.
It's also fine not to be comfortable with kiss scenes. I'd prefer not have them at all if this is the case. Not having them would be better than what we get in this drama imo.
Is it me or does FMF and JJ have more chem than our main leads ? Leo is a great actor but the chem in this is…
I don't know what LTL is, but I know that I don't think the leads in this have that much chemistry. I did think they had some in the beginning. I saw it building into something more. But it's been 30 episodes and except for a few scenes here and there, she mostly looks uncomfortable any time he shows her physical affection. Hard to feel the chemistry in that. Sometimes they feel more like mentor/mentee or friends than lovers.
The actress is good at the emotional scenes though I will give her that. And Leo is really good at showing affection with his eyes.
Maybe because Bailu is comfortable doing kiss scene with her costars. Not every actress or actor is comfortable…
I don't think anyone is ridiculing her by saying how bad the kiss scenes are. It's just an observation. She doesn't need to stick her tongue down his throat or anything. But as her job is acting, we should believe that she wants to kiss him at least a little bit. But she literally doesn't respond at all. I can't believe that she wants him when she just freezes, in some cases, almost recoiling from him. It's not just the kissing scenes that come across this way to me either.
For what it's worth, I think she's a decent actress, but she's not helping to sell the romance.
I find all the romantic scenes really awkward in this. Don't get me started on the kisses because they are so bad....that it makes me want to skip right over them. 😩 I'd prefer them not kiss at all if that is what we're going to get! In all of these romantic scenes it's like she's either sheepish and shy, completely frozen or almost shrinking away from him like she's repulsed or something. I actually think they had a lot more chemistry right in the beginning.
I love Leo and this plot is exactly the kind that I like… but did anyone else find it quite boring? Did anyone…
This is the kind of drama I usually like too, but I also think it's boring. There are moments where it's good or seems like it's about to pick up, only for it to get boring again straight after. There is a good 10 episodes where almost nothing happens. Like.... Not in their relationship, and not much with the medical plot either. This drama should have been a lot shorter. I'm caught up and I don't know why I'm still watching. Leo is really hot and is doing his best to carry the entire thing though.
Do you have the link to this new interview?
