I'm disappointed in Banxia. She's had a good life with happy times with her parents, so why couldn't she follow…
She was only in that beginning portion for a little bit. She never lived with him in the ice castle in the middle of the frozen lake that he described at the very end of 36. Plus, she was considered very young and how would her parents feel if she just abandoned them to run off with some guy (they thought) she only knew for a few days? Plus, if they find out he's a demon how's that going to look? Remember this is like a reversal on the entire series as we've seen it. So I wouldn't say she chickened out because she has essentially gotten a second chance to live her life the way she really wanted it other than the whole her parents medicating her saying she's ill and what not. She made a very smart and calculating choice that she probably didn't have a lot of time with her parents left because they were getting up in age and she wanted to spend time with them. 12 years passes quickly and I'm hopeful at least that in 12 years she can go with him. She will be only something like 31 years old and he's still going to look the same or maybe slightly older so it's not going to be a big deal. A happy ending with the two completely different worlds just didn't seem to jive. But of course everyone has their own opinions.

So I finished watching the last six episodes and I have to say that for me personally this was a bittersweet OE. There was no way he could stay because his land was in chaos and turmoil and dying out essentially. And there was no real way she could go without leaving her family And life behind. That said I am a little hopeful that in 12 years he can return and maybe after that she can go with him. I do think that basically the entirety of 36 once she got her memories back for me anyways it was understandable that they were going to part. There was no way around that and they spent most of 36 basically getting ready for that. I don’t think she’s going to marry anyone else and neither is he. It is bittersweet it is an OE, but I think given all the creepy cases in the beginning and everything else. It was a very well written story. And well acted and I’m glad that romance was not the number one thing. I think if I had to say what my favorite arc was it was definitely the creepy doll Reunion in thing.
I do wish that they spent a little less time on that everyone forgets everything arc at the end except for him and life starts from scratch and a lot of things that happened the first time around didn’t happen the second time around and how basically they caught up to everything in something like five minutes sitting in that cabin, but it made your heart hurt in a good way sad but not crying your eyeballs out. Honestly, I can’t think of a way this could’ve been an HE unless she completely abandoned her family for a man they didn’t remember that she supposedly knew only a few days. That would’ve made even less sense. So I think this was done very well. Lord willing I will be able to write the review tomorrow but well done and I’m off to serendipity tomorrow hopefully as well.
