Didn't notice that at all; fascinating. If you figure it out, plz let us know. I think it was mentioned though in subsequent episodes that the emperor did do it on purpose to weed out any usurpers of the throne; so who knows what the actual emperor has up his wide sleeve.

I will also watch the first part of TBW as fans are subbing it. There’s no other hope for it. But thus far and I don’t want to jinx it but WRTW is the best costume drama I’ve seen in 2022. There are still a lot dropping this year that I’m anticipating but for now, it’s done really well. Let’s hope it stays that way and we don’t get some funky monkey plot halfway thru lol.
