I was actually told that this year was not going to be great so I expected it. I just didn't expect myself personally to drop so many series. But there were also some very good ones and one series I gave a perfect score to which is for those who know me very, very rare. See I don't mind nudity violence, language, sex any of that as long as it's in context; A storyline has to be solid. You can't just throw in stuff like that and that includes blood and gore and you know all that other nasty shit. Like I personally can't watch shows with zombies and gore. I can't stand that. I also have a phobia of octopuses which is for me personally ironic because I'm a certified scuba diver. But I can't even see those things in a picture or in a show without like closing my eyes you think I saw Freddy Krueger. Let alone underwater that's just hell no! I will be swimming to the mainland like an Olympian on steroids!

It's the same with the Russian language. It drives me nuts because Russian has so many normal words and yet not just singing songs which is become ridiculous because they've used English words in like Russian rap which sounds horrifying I think would be the best way to put it unless it's like in a lyrical or Other type of genre of music and there's just a little bit of rap as opposed to like an Eminem type deal where it's all wrap Russian rap never listen to it. It's horrifying anyways, but they have started using English words in their regular day speaking and I hear it and I know the corresponding Russian word and I'm like why the hell can't you just say it in your own tongue. You're constantly belittling America and yet you are using our language and our slang like it does not make any sense to me whatsoever. But then again it's dumb as hell I guess they just want to look cool for themselves. And other thing that drives me crazy is sometimes when my mom watches Russian like music shows which they've ripped off from American shows like the mask and a few others that in itself is already annoying as hell, but when I watch these shows and the judges after hearing whomever sing, they rainbow fart appropriately that term comes in and say that whomever sang sang it better than the original singer if it's an American Song Sung by an American singer now can you imagine someone who sings pretty good but is then told oh, you are so better than the original singer and the original singer being someone like Whitney Houston and you're sitting there, staring at the screen, not believing what you're hearing.

What is NSLV by the way? I've noticed they have these acronyms all over the place. I have no idea what the heck they even mean. As an American, I do not watch American dramas anymore. I watch like documentaries or like YouTube crime type stuff. I have Discovery+ and I use that to watch everything from deadliest catch to home repair stuff to the paranormal or crime shows so I'm all over the place with the reality stuff but actual shows the last one I watched killed off one of the fan favorite patriarch type characters for no apparent reason and as soon as they did that, and the character was buried, I stopped watching and I think it was like two episodes before the season finale. I was like this is stupid as hell Absolutely unnecessary and ironically, I used to speak with the writer or one of them of the show from another show on Facebook the guy is cool. I've got no issues with him, but I was going to tag him on X and be like look this ain't Buffy, you can't resurrect people. So Hollywood is facing basically the same dilemma except they also stick in the alphabet soup into every series and have alienated more than half of the country because of their stupid shows. Plus they do prequels and sequels or remakes of classics that piss ppl off because apparently the brains have left Hollywood just like they've left China.

Ironically, I have also watched less shows than last year. On my profile I list the shows that I watch and last year I watched 56 shows and right now I'm at 44 though I think they may drop two more this month before the end of the year Both being modern dramas but totally different. I have dropped a lot of dramas this year more than probably ever because they're just either absolutely ridiculous or don't grab my attention or it's the same old thing. And it's sad because you want to like them and you want to watch them but it's just not happening. I think the last one I dropped was love and crown; I got through eight episodes and was like nope I'm done. A lot of people afterwards spoke to me in different drama sections and said I wish I had listened to you and left even though I didn't say anything bad just that this drama isn't for me. I watched eight episodes if you're enjoying it keep enjoying it but it's just not hitting the marks so when other people tell you, they wish they had listened and not watched because it was a total mess that says something. Because these are complete strangers from different countries. So let's hope that that's symposium lit a fire in the industry or under the industries's ass I should say.

No, the truth is a variety show so the people on the show would not have judged him. I can understand that in a show it would call for it, but it doesn’t make sense when in one scene when he’s speaking with the foreigner also while he’s studying abroad, this happened in the beginning of the show one moment he’s speaking with an accent about going to bed, blah blah blah and then when he says good night man, he says it straight without any accent so that I think was not a good thing. That could either be shoved off as a continuity issue or something else maybe it was shot several times, but even the foreigner couldn’t speak normal English, which I could understand because that guy looked like he was from Europe. I would probably guess eastern somewhere or like France. But if you hear someone speaking clear English without an accent in the past timeline when in school, he had an accent it just doesn’t flow well I guess you can say I’m looking at this from a writers perspective as well as from a directors one. In real life over there, they treat foreigners pretty decently like normal people I’m not talking about like in that something or other show. Someone pointed out that they split the foreigners from the domestic which I would call discrimination, but I guess to them it’s normal. But in real life, he even kind of bragged in a funny way on the truth that he’s his own English teacher, which would make sense. But I have heard him speak clear English so when these weird accents are deployed, it just is too fake.

I remember, KMLM and how absolutely angry the novel readers were because that was an original happy ending, and the screenwriter, Director, producer, whomever changed it into a SE for no reason whatsoever and the ending was just messy. There was also the complete destruction of the book into the series Fighting for Love. It started well and then it just was a train wreck. I mean, as I mentioned being a novelist, I personally would never sell my rights to any of my books. I would write the script myself because I do have that experience as well and I would write it absolutely as close to my novel as I could. I have friends that write professional scripts to get adapted into films or edit other screenwriters scripts and I’ve edited some friends scripts as well. One is still in preproduction film here in the states but I just really wish in China they didn’t just grab the offer and then get their own readers angry because of what was done to a perfectly good novel.

It bugs me as well because I’m a novelist/author. No don’t get me wrong. I would never write for them, but another shame is that a lot of the novelist sell the right to the show for pennies and then their novels that according to the novel readers because I never read the source material get absolutely destroyed maybe 10% of it used and something new created by some screenwriter that graduated from clown university. That’s another problem. I wish more novelist wrote their own scripts so things wouldn’t be so crappy like for example, turning an HE into an SE for no reason or an ambiguous OE where the audience is left wondering what the hell did I just watch. They have a lot of problems and I really do. Hope they listen to the actors from the symposium and the directors and everything else and start working on changing things. Obviously Rome wasn’t built in a day so it’ll take quite a while to implement changes, but they have to actually start doing that so let’s hope and in the meantime enjoy what we can.

Interesting Wikipedia says he has two older brothers, but that article said that he has one younger brother. Wikipedia is not a site with necessarily honest information. It could just be something someone wrote. But I figured that he spent most of his life in China because of absentee parents in America. I don’t remember when it was, but there was an article somewhere that said that he was born in LA or somewhere in California. Because I was searching like which state was he born in because it only ever said the US and we have 50 states so pick one. If that’s where he grew up then that’s his country even though he was born here. I have no issue with that. The only thing that I do have an issue with is that he speaks English without an accent, but in this series current timeline not past timeline he speaks English with a weird accent and then two seconds later it clears up and he has no accent. It always drives me crazy it’s like if you can speak clear English then do it. Don’t pretend to be some person that never knew English. He’s been on a variety show the truth. I’m sure you’ve seen it in all seasons and the same thing happened there. He would say a word or a sentence with some weird accent and then two minutes later, speak a whole sentence without an accent. I don’t understand why the faking is necessary. Just like any other language, there are a lot of Russians and Ukrainians in China and they speak their native tongues without any accent or pretending whatsoever. My native tongue is Russian and Ukrainian is very similar to Russian, though I was born in neither country so I can tell when someone’s faking and when they’re not. I had similar qualms with Henry Lau, whose Canadian, was born in Canada, went to college in Canada all that stuff, and then came to China with his also brother as his manager participated on street dance of China in one season and did the same exact thing, and the camera caught him one moment his English is extremely poor and the next it is accent free like he’s sitting in a Canadian restaurant talking with some friends. Just annoys me is all; like be real. If you’re bilingual than be proud of it. Learn a few more languages while you’re at it since you’re over there like Korean, Cantonese, Taiwanese; why not?

Yes, other platforms do 4 to 6 episode expresses but this one seems to only get stuck on 40 well we will have to see. I just hope our trio survives and makes things right and all of the bad guys get their heads chopped off especially SSM.

“HE and CY in the same sentence doesn’t seem to exist” 😆 is a good one.

The thing about their entertainment industry, and I was watching Marcus Sim on Tuesday and he mentioned a symposium where over 100 actors were invited to give their opinions on how the industry can improve and many actors said that it would be great if there were new and fresh ideas out there for scripts because many felt that it was a constant repeat of the same concept regardless of genre. I think it was Arthur Chen that said that when he was recently playing a role, he felt like he had done it before in another drama. And I completely agree with them. Everything is so hamster wheel predictable that it’s very rare to get a script that’s different again regardless of genre and that’s why it’s always actors fighting for roles. But they really need to bring fresh blood into the industry, new novelists and screenwriters and new ideas so their industry can have a rebirth for lack of a better phrase or a resurrection. Because it’s quite sad right now as literally every genre has so many tropes that people can spot them from a mile away sometimes even in the first five episodes and that’s very telling.

Really? That will be interesting because as long as I have seen him in shows he’s always been kicking butt taking names. The old guys fighting that’s something else. I mean these are veteran actors, not children by any stretch of the imagination so them on wires and sword fighting, I can imagine it’s definitely not easy. So it’s going to be an interesting show and I hope the storyline holds out.

I don’t remember how old he is right now 25-26? Younger than that, but he definitely acts in general when it comes to serious things, quite maturely so I agree the brother did a good job. Otherwise he’s an extrovert a jokester prankster I mean the BTS that I posted on the set of this show. I think Michele was ready to whack him with a pillow half a dozen times, lol.

It’s best to stay away from all the foxes, even if your favorite actors are in them because the storylines are just shit piles. I don’t understand who writes them why the screenwriter directors and producers even think of putting such obvious trash out there but they do so they end up bombing. I remember a year ago I started watching one just because I was curious and I think I may have followed a few people on there and holy moly not even halfway through I dropped it. It was just an absolute mess in dress. Yeah I saw that too, but I think a few of those team members may end up dead. It looks like the body count for this one will be pretty high as well so better prepare ourselves for that. I’m not sure whether it’ll have an HE since I believe he’s not a fan of those. In any case I hope he gets his revenge and survives to live onward in peace.

Title Treasure at Dawn Spoiler
I don’t understand what power they have either I mean, the Lord of the city seems to be less powerful than them.…
We are almost done with the series and we don’t know so much about why the city lord doesn’t get involved and declare like martial law and round up that entire chamber and stick them in prison to await execution for just randomly killing people on the street, including women and children. If he allows this to happen then maybe he shouldn’t be the Lord of the city, but give it to someone who is capable enough to run a city with lawfulness and what not. I also think maybe because of that whole other location Jibei or jubei whatever with the palace and the fact that the king is essentially either a child or addicted to drugs or a puppet that that red eyed sick eunuch put on the throne so he himself could run the place and that’s why there’s no real order in so much corruption everywhere. Maybe that’s what that treasure book is about how to make a country stable and get the right people to run it. I’m sick of the little shit and everything he gets away with. He’s a psychopath and he’s running with a bunch of people who just because they think they have the numbers like that chick will not fall pray to his antics. He’s already killed how many people? I think the city is a mess and sadly it’s because of the people who run it not the people living in it. So I guess we will just have to see what tomorrow’s episodes bring because at some point you just have to say enough is enough. Plus, we haven’t apparently even met one dude who’s in the opening credits with a beard I don’t know who he is but maybe he’s a villain and maybe he’s a good guy, but somebody has to stand up and say enough is enough clear out the court get rid of all the corruption and start leading the country and all of the cities properly with the right people.

I think there’s a lot of fight scenes in this one and I think he does fight quite a lot as that seems to be his niche martial arts. I didn’t watch his sword and beloved just because I’m not into the fox series anything as those are usually messes and production companies for some reason can’t get a clue and stop making them. But I did see the legend of heroes, I believe it was called and he did very well there. I think here he will fight, but I also think it’s a strategic thing because according to the synopsis up here it says he’s been planning his revenge for a decade so it’ll be interesting to see what his revenge looks like.

I agree. I’m actually surprised this is only 28 episodes. I thought this was going to be like 40. It just seems like such a powerful and dramatic drama that it needs so much revenge and obviously so much blood if you view the trailer that it would have more. Was it cut because of review or was this always the number? I didn’t follow until I saw a trailer that made me very interested in the storyline and I know CY can deliver good martial arts.

Yes, the pay-per-view thing I get it usually if I enjoy the drama, I watch one episode or two make my decision and then purchase if it captures my attention regardless of who is in it. And just to be fair, I am watching Treasure at Dawn and in the beginning first week. They had two episodes a day and then they moved to two episodes every other day. Thank you for being telepathic, but i’m not trying to make it sound unique either.

I always do this? Do you follow me around on the dramas that I watch? Obviously you’re a hard-core fan and I’m talking about the schedule and not the actor so let’s separate the two shall we? If this is something that platform does great maybe I just don’t pay attention to every single schedule that every single platform puts out but if I notice something strange and I may have forgotten it from the past, I may mention it. Never thought that was a crime.

Wait I just thought of something with express it says we’re getting it the 14th but that’s at 11 PM my time so for me it becomes December 13. Even though four or five episodes I will probably watch the actual 14th. I’m not watching them all night. But this midday funky monkey schedule is just strange and I’ll be happy when it’s over. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
