For those who can’t get enough of Liu Yu Ning another drama A Journey to Love , another great action series.
That drama should retitled as A Journey To Heaven LOL
I'm happy Liu Yu Ning have happy ending in this drama and another costume drama, A Dream Within A Dream with Li Yi Tong that I hope will air this year too.
This drama is set in a fictional time period inspired by the later years of the Eastern Han dynasty with echoes…
You're welcome. The account is one of informative account on X I have ever encountered because it always give interesting infos about popular Chinese dramas that currently on air.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the WS more in the novel, that man is harder to break and tame. Compare…
Wei Shao in novel won't pass the censorship but I'm satisfied with the process of him falling in love with Man Man in drama.
Yes, Wei Shao in drama is more nicer but it's not unbelievable how he fall in love with Man Man because the process is gradual. We can see the effort of Man Man that make he fall in love with her.
Some people say Wei Shao in drama is weak but I don't think so. She makes shoes, belt, pillow for him, served meals for him and talk to his mother behalf of him about forcing concubine and her awful treatment as his mother. She also patience with his tantrum and know how to coax him with words and gesture. This is one of drama that I can see and understand clearly how main male lead fall in love with main female lead and not just because she is the "main female lead".
She is sweet and obedient without being weak and firm without being bossy. This is almost accurate on how a strategist main wife from a noble family in ancient China captured her husband heart after marriage even their family are political enemies before.
Anyway, Wei Shao have soft spot on Man Man and her family now because he fall in love with her but we can see he is still a teriffying person when he get piss off just like when he throw Man Man personal box because he is jealous and choked the woman and said "Don't tell anyone about this. I can execute your whole clan". https://x.com/dramaxthetics/status/1926847942045909060
The presence of Gao Heng and his interactions with Wei Shao gave me so many laughs hahaha.
I think Gao Heng kind of admire Man Man, that's all, but Wei Shao kinda get imagination in his head that Gao Heng is one of his love rival since he is not a talented scholar like Gao Heng that excellent in literature LOL
I'm starting to know about Liu Yu Ning as the second couple with Zhao Lu Si in The Long Ballad. Then, A Journey To Love with Liu Shi Shi.
Currently, The Prisoner Of Beauty with Song Zu Er.
So far, I like all chemistry he have with actresses that played as main female lead in his dramas that I watch.
All of the actresses are my beloved! ~pretty little baby~ ~I'm falling for you~ \^0^/ 1) Zhao Lu Si 2) Liu Shi Shi 3) Song Zu Er Next is Li Yi Tong yeehaaa!
I hope his drama A Dream Within A Dream with Li Yi Tong will air in June this year.
And the fact that this drama is an original script make me more excited! Come, air quickly!
Huanyu CEO Yuzheng said on a live stream today that he sent 2 scripts to SZE. While it's nice that he's offered…
No to Yu Zheng and no to Guo Jing Ming for Song Zu Er please. She just recovered from wrongly accused of tax evasion for about 2 years. I don't want her to involve with troublesome Yu Zheng or Guo Jing Ming sheesh
Since this is a vertical short drama, it only has 2 minutes per episode so in total this drama will be about 3 hours and 20 minutes long LOL
I wonder who the main male lead and main female lead will be. Different from mainstream Chinese long dramas, many popular main actors for vertical short dramas have matured face so I guess it's not hard to find actor that suit to be a general hmmm https://x.com/InBlossom_Lotus/status/1924239802406236496
Him in Goodybe My Princess is one of the best ML in all cdrama, and definitely the best red flag. You can completely…
There's another low budget short drama that has red flag main male lead with quite similar version of red flag main male lead in Goodbye My Princess.
If you never watch short drama, here are some basic info: *Since they are short dramas, usually they only have about 24-30 episodes with about 15-30 minutes per episode. *Since censorship for short dramas are not strict, their kiss sscene, bed scene usually are more intense and passionate. Their scenes that involving sexual assault like forced kiss, attempt r*pe, r*pe also usually are more explicit than usual scenes in mainstream long Chinese dramas. *Since they are short drama, their set are low budget but some of them managed to show good cinematography despite being low budget. *They are bad short dramas of course, but sometimes they produced enjoyable short dramas to watch since they have shorter duration and main couple scenes show more palpable chemistry since their censorship are not strict.
You may interested to check it out because even it was low budget short drama, the main actor and main actress performances are really good. Love & Bid Farewell (2024) with actor Yan Zi Xian and actress He Xuan Lin. https://kisskh.at/766723-yu-jun-jue
Actor that played main male lead, Yan Zi Xian is one of talented actor in short dramas that I ever watch in short drama. He excell in playing comedy character and intense character.
I wonder if we could see real red flag main male lead again like in Goodbye My Princess in Chinese long dramas after this. Majority of time, drama screenwriter toned down main male lead characters a lot so they appear red flag to main female lead before slowly turn to green flag LOL
Does he have any upcoming historical drama? All i see is modern ones🥹
He mentioned before when he promoted his last costume drama so far, The Starry Love (2023), that his hair could be bald soon because of those heavy wigs in costume dramas LOL
Well, he may be kinda joking at that time but it seem possible he feel all those wigs in costume dramas are troublesome so he just play in modern dramas after that drama until now.
Oh man, the day he called her man2 will be the day I melt into a puddle 😆I agree with this take here: https://www.tumblr.com/dangermousie/783988750933000192/i-love-her-being-open-i-love-that-she-is-being?source=shareshe…
Actually, I don't mind domineering main female lead in costume drama if the actresses can act. After all, I watch fictional drama to escape from real life LOL
But truthfully, main female lead character in this drama is almost accurate in how strategist main wife from noble family will be in ancient China. Especially when you married a man that is from political enemy of your family.
She is sweet and obedient but doesn't mean she is weak and can be firm without being bossy.
For me, for Chinese actors born in 2000 and above, Wang Xing Yue is top actor in my list. He can act and he can dub his own drama.
But Chen Xin Hai is also one of Gen Z actor that can act and not an actor with only good looking face. So, even I'm not satisfied that Song Zu Er will play as sweet main female again after The Prisoner Of Beauty since I want her in more challenging character, I'm happy she will play with main male lead that can act.
But I hope the screenwriter and director will be good too. No matter how talented main actor and main actress are, if the screenwriter and director is not good, they couldn't save a bad drama.
Have you watched "my journey to you"? The second couple have the anti hero female you want
Yes, I watch that drama and I enjoyed Lu Yu Xiao performance so much but she is second female lead in that drama.
I wish for more main female lead to be like that but some people ready to jump at main female lead behaviour even for the smallest reason that's why it hard to get anti hero main female lead in Asian dramas.
The plot of this drama is not perfect but I like how main couple build their relationship slowly. And based on the screenwriter of this drama, Nan Zhen, previous dramas that I watch, it's expected that her main male lead will not be red flag even if main couple relationship is quite slow burn.
Some people dissappointed because main male lead is not real red flag and they said the intensity is gone because he is not ruthless.
But if he is ruthless, main female lead need to be more scheming and sly than how she is right now so main couple will be balaced.
But even when she scheme a bit to raise flag to protect of Qiao clan in the previous episode, people called her manipulative, cannot be trusted and other.
Of course she need to be cautious and scheme a bit at the beginning because main male lead quite prejudice towards her at the beginning.
I'm confused. So, do these people actually want main male lead in the drama to be more ruthless like in novel, but main female lead to be submissive?
But if that happened, later people will still blame her because she submissive.
I really wish to see an anti hero type of main female lead in Chinese costume drama one day and I don't care even if she get sad ending.
People mentioned about Story Of Yanxi Palace when I talk about scheming main female lead but even if main female lead in that drama schemes, she is not anti hero type, she just retaliated back after what people did to her.
When I talk about anti hero type of main female lead, I refer to the like of Li Cheng Yin in Goodbye My Princess. Being manipulative, schemer to main female lead for his goal even we can see he fall in love with her. Yes, that the type of anti hero that I want a main female lead would be.
But if people couldn't handle when main female lead be little scheming towards main male lead at the beginning like in this drama, they surely will be foaming if there is an anti hero character like Li Cheng Yin as main female lead LOL
If main male lead is ruthless, schemer, sly towards main female lead: "awww he is so pitiful, it reasonable anyway because he is a leader/ has childhood trauma , main female lead should try to understand him..." and 534734 excuses
If main female lead is ruthless, schemer, sly towards main male lead: "wow she is so maipulative, I hope she won't get happy ending, I hope main male lead leave her, I couldn't continue watching because I hate her...." and 435434 critism
As usual, people willing to give more grace to main male lead while criticising main female lead even for smallest behaviour.
And added with goverment censorship, I feel like it hard to get anti hero type of main female lead in Chinese costume drama.
The analysis about Wei Shao character from this account on X is interesting:
While watching Ep11, I realized that Wei Shao is a bit of a contradiction - though not in a bad way.
On the battlefield, he’s ruthless and unhesitating in his military conquests, yet when it comes to those closest to him, he avoids confrontation. Take his relationship with his mother: even when he finally stood his ground during the concubine fiasco, it was only after things spiraled out of control. And he never quite apologizes to Xiao Qiao outright? Instead, he tries to make amends through actions rather than words.
If this were a modern drama, he’d probably be criticized for being a little chauvinistic, and I won’t deny that he is. The character is flawed, and that’s what makes him interesting. But what fascinates me more is whether he’s truly unaware of his cousin’s manipulations. Does he genuinely believe his cousin’s smooth-talking explanations, or just like in his mother’s case, is he choosing to overlook them?
That’s why I love it when he and Xiao Qiao have explosive arguments. Beyond the dramatic tension heightening their chemistry, these clashes force them to confront the real challenges of their marriage and negotiate what it truly means to be husband and wife . https://x.com/triplem11543909/status/1924376717809832101
The plot of these dramas are not perfect and these main male leads are not like the typical anime male or pretty boy but when I see them in costume drama, they remind me of the lyric "A man, a man, a man, a man, a man..." in song hehe https://youtu.be/FCUuiYQyxtE?si=dcWLaYInvsVZXOZD
But it also seem that recently, Chinese drama production like to put thick white powder on Chinese actors and actresses and sometime it distracted me. Who started this style of thick white make up because they are not like this before =_=
It's fine if they look quite light brown skin onscreen, you know.
I'm happy Liu Yu Ning have happy ending in this drama and another costume drama, A Dream Within A Dream with Li Yi Tong that I hope will air this year too.
