Guys, is there any Chinese romance dramas either costume or modern that has antihero characters like Ying Zheng in The King's Woman (2017) or Li Cheng Yin in Goodbye My Princess (2019) as it main female lead?
Since I read about Li Lan Di wish to play a villain role in the future, I hope there will be a producer who willing to produce a Chinese romance drama with antihero character as it main female lead.
We need more variety character for the main female lead in Chinese romance dramas.
As for now, I wish to see Chinese romance drama with these 2 types of character as main female lead:
1) A ruthless and cunning main female lead because she want to achieve high power/status. She fall in love with main male lead but to her, "mission is still a mission my love!" "I want to conquer the world & your love through my power!"
2) A demure and gentle main female lead but she can manipulate people including main male lead using many mischievous tricks/plans to achieve her ambition/needs. She's not pretending to be demure or gentle, she really has that characteristic. But she can blackmail, hurt and threaten people with her elegant smile and refined speech.
It's fine even if they have sad ending, I just want to see these characters in main female lead in Chinese romance dramas LOL
But I think to produce these type of drama, they need to take a risk with a non traffic actors as the main male lead. Sometimes they have to change a novel that originally woman centric plot to a male centric plot in drama because of the actors right?
Next time if Li Lan Di said the story has happy ending, be skeptical. Girl actually favor a story with plot as sad as possible that's why even if the story end with main female lead become flower, to her, it's a happy ending LOL
Can anyone recommend other Chinese costume dramas with no pitiful loyal second male lead get heartbroken because of main female lead and typical delusional bitchy second female lead that doesn't get hint that main male lead doesn't like her like The Starry Love?

When I compared drama The Starry Love with other previous xian xia drama that I had watch, the main difference between them is usually You Qin & Ye Tan relationship that full of comedy will be the 2nd or side couple while Chao Feng & Qing Kui relationship that full of angst will be the main couple.

First she look at him with scheme to let him die, next she feel bit touched when he said he will protect her, then she look shocked when he save her by controlling her body and lastly she feel amazed when he defeated Chao Feng. She not just staring blankly or round eyes for to show that she was in shock.

In one of article about Chen Xing Xu that I read, he prefer his character in dramas as someone that has a mission/goal. Yeah, even if you only watch his dramas that has romance in them like Goodbye My Princess, Fall In Love & The Starry Love, you will realize that all his characters already have their own missions to accomplish even before the romance blooms between him and his female leads.
In one of Li Lan Di articles that I read, she prefer plot with sad ending and in the future, she really want to act in a villainous role. I can endure watching a Chinese costume drama with more than 40 episodes but can easily lost interest in a Chinese modern drama although it just 40 episodes. I prefer romance plot in Chinese drama in either costume drama or Chinese Republic Era drama haha
But since they have clear vision as actor and actress, I think in the future, they will be more picky about the drama script and won't accept to play character with lousy script even they get to work together again.
