Why "concubine female lead" is one of the tag? I thought the main female lead in this drama is a queen played by actress Kim Hye Soo?
I actually like that comedy is the main genre of this drama. After I get dehydrated by another Korean historical drama in Joseon era, The Red Sleeve currently, let me laugh for a while. Maybe there will be little mysterious or bit sad plot as a surprise in here though.
I hope this drama will be successful like one of my favorite drama, Mr Queen.
Usually the main couple in Chinese Republican Era romance drama will has sad ending because of two reason: -the main male lead is a military officer/soldier. -it was adapted from novel that originally has that kind of ending.
Since drama Love In Flames Of War was adapted from melodrama romance novel that was published in year 2010, the final chapter of this drama quite similar with the novel:
Main female lead, Hang Jing crying after she read the news about main male lead, Bei Chen on the newspaper that brought by Shen Yan Qing, the man with glasses that help her before by pretending to be her husband after she return to Bei Xin city with new identity, Shen Hang Jun.
Unlike in the drama, Yan Qing is still alive until the end of the novel and all four, Yan Qing, Yan Ke who is Yan Qing's son, Hang Jing and Nan Gui, her son with Bei Chen, stay together in the San Francisco, US.
Yan Qing mentioned he get the newspaper from his friend in China and then he comforted her because in the novel, the news on the newspaper mentioned about the unknown condition of Bei Chen, commander of Bei Xin city after his fight with Japanese army. He said the news mentioned unknown so maybe Bei Chen is still alive.
Nan Gui playing with Shen Ke and he realized his mother is crying. He look at the newspaper and asked her about the man on the newspaper. She hugged Nan Gui and told him that is his dad. He then comforted her by telling her, "don't cry mom, I promise my father will definitely come back".
Hang Jing agreed and she said, "we'll just wait here, waiting for dad to come back, okay?"
So the novel ending is an open ending. The drama ending changed a little bit with picture of Bei Chen being alive, standing beside other peoples in the photo on the newspaper that Hang Jing read. Then Hang Jing and their son board a ship to China to find him.
If we get to know about some info during Republic Of China (1912 - 1949) then we will know why their dramas/novels usually has sad ending:
Republic of China (1912 - 1949): *The history of the Republic of China begins after the fallen of the Qing dynasty, around 1912, when the Xinhai Revolution and the formation of the Republic of China put an end to 2,000 years of imperial rule.
The Republic experienced many trials and tribulations after its founding which included being dominated by elements as disparate as warlord generals and foreign powers.
On October 1, 1949, Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong declared the creation of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
In short, Republic Of China was one of most turbulent era in China's history because: =fights between warlords since the last imperial of China, Qing Dynasty had already fallen =civil wars (Nationalist Party or Kuomintang-led government of the Republic of China, (KMT) vs forces of the Chinese Communist Party, (CCP)) =Sino-Japanese War 2 (Republic of China vs Empire of Japan)
When I’m watching romance dramas or reading romance novels that are set in Republic Of China, I always remember one of their famous saying: < Love in Republic Of China, nine out of ten are sorrow > so I won’t feel too disappointed with the ending (T_T)
Actually this expression of his in the Maid's Revenge trailer is one of main reason I'm interested to watch this short drama even before Maid's Revenge on air LOL He still manage to look cute even with that expression XD https://twitter.com/bbykyuju/status/1573340387468804096
He look hot in modern clothes but I hope he will play in Chinese Republican Era drama again because he looks hotter and stylish in Republic of China outfits (ノ^о^)ノ https://twitter.com/bbykyuju/status/1574311573530808320
Interesting how the comments are still ongoing (towards 3100 now), at the same time the rate keeps dropping. What…
Thank you. I'm just checking the trailer and the part where the guy hold her book titles: How To Be An Assassin, How To Kill Your Husband, How To Be Elegant Black Widow just kill me hahaha XD
These short dramas usually just straight to the point and many of them that have historical genre are quite funny , so I'm enjoying them.
I hope main couple of Maid's revenge will reunited again in another dramas that has a better script!
The plot: Ye Qing Lan , the only daughter of the second branch of the Ye family, was framed by the former eldest young master of the Mu family and then becomes an unwilling bride to wash away bad luck, which ensues in revenge. From now on, Ye Qing Lan has to fight green tea bitches, scumbags and an evil mother-in-law.
"Green tea bitch" =A term that was launched over the Chinese internet in the spring of 2013. According to Chinese netizens, the term is used to describe ambitious women who “pretend to be very innocent”.
Who changed the title? The Mysterious doesn't sound right. Please, change it back
Maybe that is the official English title given by this drama production. If it is themselves that gave such tittle, how could we change it just because we feel it doesn't sound right though?
I hope the plot is good because I like how this drama will be about investigation, bromance and most importantly I read some articles using google translation that each main male lead, second male lead and third male lead in this drama will get their own romantic partner. No love triangle, less headache.
https://www.facebook.com/reel/2052726674928250?extid=chYV2B&fs=e.Guyssss.... am i the only feeling butterfly watching…
They know how to create good chemistry with each other. Chen Fang Tong is really a cute lady, even Dai Gao Zheng mentioned how cute she is. Dai also seem like a talkative person in real life haha
There is behind a scene where they discuss about the kiss & slap scene with director, staff and it seem at first Chen couldn't slap him until he need to tell her like "you can slap me", "try it" LOL
When I'm watching Chinese romance dramas that are set in one of turbulent time in China which is Republic Of China (1912 - 1949), I prepare myself about the main couple ending with their famous saying: < Love In Republic Of China, nine out of ten are sorrow >
Now this Korean drama set during Japanese Occupation Era (1910 - 1945) which also is one of the turbulent time in Korea.
So I believe we should prepare for some heartbreak in here too like main male lead/main female lead/second male lead or a character close to main couple will die. It's quite a pattern when you already watch some of Korean & Chinese dramas during these era (T_T)
I read in an article somewhere that romance is not the main genre of this drama.

So It is certain that Vincent Wei will be the male lead ?
My comprehension of the Chinese language is very very poor.
When I'm watching Chinese videos in Bilibili (equivalent of Youtube for people in China) that of course didn't have subtitle at all, majority of time I'm just interpret them based on what I can understand according to my knowledge which mainly include translating the comments below the videos LOL
I remember reading some comments way below here on kisskh that he mentioned some info about himself including his date of birth on his Weibo (equivalent of Twitter in China).
Weibo is quite stricter than Bilibili because you have to sign up before you could read the full posting on there.
If someone who has Weibo account share the link to you about some posting but you didn't have any Weibo account, you could read the posting but couldn't explore too much.
For Bilibili, you could watch the videos there as long as they weren't deleted by that channel even you didn't have any account. (This is their current rules, I don't know if they will change later)
You just put sentence or keyword in Chinese language of want you to watch on the "search" box which located on the top of Bilibili page. That's how I did it LOL
Some info about popular social media platforms in China: =Most popular: WeChat, a Chinese app for instant messaging, mobile payment and other developed by Tencent. =Weibo is like Twitter =Douyin & Kuaishou are like TikTok. So I'm really sorry, I don't know which video is the one that you want. Even if he really said about it in one of video that I watch, I couldn't give you since I don't know =_='
Maybe you can ask to the commentators below that mentioned about his date of birth though.
So It is certain that Vincent Wei will be the male lead ?
Yes, this short drama strongest points to me are:
-main casts acting skill -main couple chemistry together, every time they interacts, kiss and have physical contact they are on fire! -main female lead lovely face with cute dimple (she is kinda petite but she has sexy body that not usual thin like other Chinese actresses) -main male lead manly face and sturdy body (he look gorgeous in all of Republic Of China outfits)
Some people accused that audiences watch this drama only because Dai Gao Zheng abs. I admit his abs is really good but sorry, that alone is not enough to make me invest in main couple romance in this drama if their chemistry together are bad and they have wooden acting skill =_=
I thought the main female lead in this drama is a queen played by actress Kim Hye Soo?

He won't be like the nice male lead like in Asian romcom dramas LOL
But he is being upfront about it unlike the sneaky second male lead.
Ye Qing Lan , the only daughter of the second branch of the Ye family, was framed by the former eldest young master of the Mu family and then becomes an unwilling bride to wash away bad luck, which ensues in revenge. In Hundred Days Bride, actor Wei Tian Hao will be main male lead while actor Dai Gao Zheng will be second male lead.
Other casts in Maid's Revenge like Ting Yao half-sister, Tian Yi's fiancéé also play in Hundred Days Bride.
I think the major difference between casts in Maid's Revenge and Hundred Days Bride is their main female lead.
Main female lead in Maid's Revenge is actress Chen Fang Tong while main female lead in Hundred Days Bride is another actress, Qu Meng Ru.
I'm curious about actor Dai Gao Zheng chemistry with actress Qu Meng Ru because they have kiss scene there even he is second male lead.
