KP was supposed to be really really heavy. Tharntype not so much. I could very well be that way in the novels. I wouldn't know however. I did read the KP novels and I can 100% say that the show is better and less toxic.
I love this show. But for me the real comedy comes from commander Xiao and him hauling around He Yan. Because no one but like 6 people know He Yan is a girl and they can absolutely not say anything. So the entire camp is under the impression that Commander Xiao has feelings for his "male" subordinate.
I have no idea what you personally consider a happy ending. For me The Wolf, Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, The Korean Odyssey, Marry my Dead Body and Sword and Fairy with Esther Yu had happy endings. So I suggest judging for yourself.
Maybe they outsourced production to another country? :C
I'd agree with you if Tencent didn't have a a HUGE production team( they have to with the amount of animated/CGI and live action dramas they pump out. There catalog is insane
