I said tattoos are fashion. I've literally watched numerous nations (all western or heavily influenced by western culture) which didn't have tattoos as a significant part of their culture or traditions come to have many people have them. That's fashion.
You said they are incredibly popular, have been for thousands of years, and will continue to be. That obviously isn't true, so I disagreed. Yes, they have existed for thousands of years, but they haven't been incredibly popular. You said "who cares" to western culture, but western nations and nations influenced by western culture are the places where tattoos are the most popular in the world. This isn't my standard or personal opinion, this is reality. Don't take my word for it, do some web searches.
I don't know why you started talking about people trying to squash tattoos in societies that they are part of the traditional culture. I didn't even slightly refer to such a thing nor did I say that should be done.
> modern western society = / = victorian society btw
Yea, obviously. The Victorian Era ended over a century ago. Modern western society has very significantly changed in that time. Btw, look up Maud Stevens Wagner. She grew up in the Victorian Era. You might like her tattoos.
> also this is a site about ASIA despite us both speaking english. be so fr
Yea, another reason I brought up Japan as an example. When you said tattoos are incredibly popular, where you referring to Asia or a specific place in Asia?
The western world IS the center of the world in English speaking nations. We're here using English, so it's relevant. Seems to me calling the western world's attitude regressive and untrue is in itself regressive and untrue. The other areas aren't any more the center of the world than the western world. Do you also think we shouldn't care about them as well? Pointing out the truth that doesn't happen to match what you said also isn't being regressive nor untrue.. Yes, there's a small tattoo subculture in Japan (and they do some of the most beautiful work in the world), but it STILL isn't incredibly popular as you said. Btw, I noted Japan because it's an example outside of the western world.
Some advice, if you have to resort to making personal attacks to "win" a debate, then you've lost. It greatly weakens your position.
Incredibly popular for thousands of years? Maybe in some native cultures. However, in the modern western cultures it's a fairly recent thing. They weren't popular when I was growing up. For the most part, people who had tattoos were looked at low class and/or criminals. Now I live in Japan where they still aren't especially popular or accepted.
Anyways, being popular and being a way to express oneself doesn't in the slightest make them not fashion. Haven't you noticed the style of tattoos that are popular now have changed? Fashion.
Funny how in. real life she is actually only a year and a half older then Kim Myeong Soo. She is actually not…
I don't think she's ugly. More like very average, and the way they dressed her and did her hair did her no favors and I thought didn't match her character's interest in fashion.
I should look for photos of her not related to this drama and see how she usually looks.
I cannot picture Jung Hae In as a boxer or a gangster unless the makeup artist gives him a cauliflower ear, a…
Why a cauliflower ear? It's not judo. My boxing coach was a national champion. No cauliflower ear. And no reason for a broken nose or split lip unless someone has just been in a bad fight & took a bunch of hits to the face, which a good fighter fighting normal people probably isn't going to have happen. There's a guy who started in my gym that I think is now top 10 in the world in his weight class and is much more "pretty" than than actor. Being good looking doesn't mean you can't be a good boxer. And there's really no reason to bulk up. The character used to be an active box, but no longer. Also, seen plenty of Asian boxers that are still quite thin and not bulky at all. Look up 三代 大訓, a boxer I met once.
Fun Fact: He was also a high school arsonist. When asked his reasoning behind this, he said "Because it looked…
I read your link and you badly twisted what was described. According to your own link, he didn't try to set the school on fire as you made it sound like. He set paper airplanes on fire and threw them. He didn't say he tried to set the school on fire "because it looked cool." It was the paper airplanes flying through the air on fire that looked cool.
Yes, a stupid thing to do, but they would look cool. High school boys doing stupid things that aren't especially safe actually is pretty normal behavior.
I know it's 6 years later, but it's now on Youtube under the name "Abbaneun Ddal" and if you hit CC can see English subtitles that probably it can translate to other languages.
The lead actress is much better as a VILLAIN ACTRESS. Total 180 in villain roles where she's auddenly super attractive…
OK, thanks for your input. Haven't watched any of her other shows. In this show, they could've tried to distract from her lack of looks by putting her in great outfits, but instead she wore boring clothes that made her look even worse. LOL
It's an OK show. Not great, not bad. Lead actress might be the least attractive lead actress I've seen in a romance show and for a character that's supposed to be a fashion designer, her outfits don't seem very fashionable. She's supposed to be about 30, but to me looks closer to 40. The idea of a village that continues to live life like 150+ years ago was interesting.
I was watching descendants of the sun , once his role showed i got a little unhappy, his acting is so rehearsed,…
Watching that now. Compared to the other non-Korean actors in that drama, he's great. LOL The others are so surprisingly BAD. I'll take rehearsed over awful. Also, what's with the kids constantly licking metal from destroyed vehicles? Do Koreans think children in areas like that are super stupid? :) Not an attack, really asking. I have no idea what the answer is. I keep laughing every time one of those kids starts licking a jagged piece of war zone metal.
I've watched many K-dramas. This was one of my least favorite. Some ideas that if well done I could see being part of a good show, but this wasn't well done. Can't really think of anything that was better than mediocre. Well, one actress had a great body, but her character made me dislike her. That's about it.
You rate part 1 a 1*, keep watching despite it ending at a logical ending point… the lead didn’t go from 20…
When you read that the average age in a time period was something low like 50, that is because so many died in childhood and frequent warfare can contribute. It is an average, not a maximum age that everyone suddenly started dropping dead at. A great many lived much longer.
