The appearance of the Dark Garo form of the Garo Armour shows that it takes place after Gold Storm. There's also a behind the scenes short with Mika Nanri visiting the set of this series, with her suggesting that she would like to come back for later shows. I think Rian will return, but Ryuga is just on his own journey of self improvement in this one
