Person He Feng Tian
His looks remind me of Wang Kai. Loved him in Couple of Mirrors.
Went here to look if someone also saw the similarity :D

Anyone that has read the manhua (preferably before watching the drama) and can tell me how this compares? I was looking forward to the adaptation but the trailer and supposed focus on the romance kinda put me off. So I want to know if it's worth watching.

Is it better than the korean version? I've been trying to finish it but it's so boring I am so disappointed. Since…
I agree with grace, depends on what you're looking for.
Personally, I like this one more because the writing and characters are superior to Moon Lovers. For example, the female lead here is what I would call a strong and smart female character, the korean one is just... an adorable and naive girl.
The korean remake has higher production value and overall pretty look, the plot is made more dramatic but everything is simplified.
Rom/com turned sob story where everything is pretty? Moon Lovers.
Complex and dark romance/palace drama? Scarlet Heart.

OH MY GOD I NEED A SEASON 2!!!!
Believe me, you don't. *looks at the sad, ugly thing that is the original sequel* You really, really don't.

Seems everyone's view of a 1-10 rating system is different. My perspective on the 1-10 is one of the bell curve…
It's something I've noticed across the different databases, be it MDL, IMDB, MangaUpdates, Goodreads or others. I tend to view the average as the middle number on the rating scale (here it's five) and try to rate according to that, but so often I come upon a review that's all about how the drama/movie was bad but they give it a 7, which is a 'above average, I liked it' rating for me.
So when I saw the article I was really curious about the hidden gems amongst the badly rated dramas and then read the caveat "below 8.0=bad"... I had to laugh :D

Oh no, the scandal! :D
Manhwa is a different medium and as such the author can do things tv creators can only dream of.
Well, it will depend on where it airs I guess. The dramas produced by cable tv networks are much more bold about their content.

Sadly, there are still lots of people who like to watch such cold ml and stupid fl leading to overhype of such…
I guess you don't notice it as a teen when it's considered a norm? I mean, I know I loved the ML in Hana yori dango (the japanese original of BOF) when I was young and don't think he was toxic - it can by due to nostalgia or maybe the korean one was way worse. And I'm sure that if I look at my show ratings there are gonna be some that I would rate way lower/wouldn't watch at all now in my late-twenties then when I was a teen
Playful Kiss was more like Painful Kiss. It's like the walking embodiment of the most hated tropes.

We're talking about k-drama here :D Like, they totally could surprise me but let's be honest, even chinese dramas with their million restrictions tend to be more daring. Just look at Mr. Queen for an example - they REALLY could have pushed the boundaries and in the end they chose the safest route possible.
The watered down school drama or overly melo scenarios are both pretty likely. Let's wait and see I guess.

But when I compare it to the time when my drama watching was at its peak (for k-dramas it would be somewhere around 2008-2009?) the number of such shows is definitely lower. I'm starting to see more of nice MLs and at least some smart FLs. But it could be that my perception is warped because if I see just one forceful wrist grab I drop the drama :D

Really? I thought the feminist themes were really well-done for a shoujo-manhwa! As long as they tone down some…
For that, I was mainly talking about the drama adaptation, not the source material. I should have been more specific, sorry >.< That said, the ML was a jerk even in the manwha.
We'll see how it turns out. I'll probably speed through it - since I've left most of those tropes behinds together with my youth :D - but if they indeed tone down the negative aspects of the characters then it could be popular with the younger generation :)

As much as I liked the original and the manwha way back then, I feel the plot is kinda old-fashioned nowadays. I thought the k-drama world is finaly moving on from the 'kind and stupid klutz heroine and cold jerk with a heart of gold ML' trope so seeing Goong remade feels like a step back (unless they dramaticaly change the characters). So my feeling on this are kinda ambivalent...
Plus let's be honest: the reason I loved the drama and rewatched it like 3 times is mostly Joo Ji Hoon :D

please finish it and let us know your opinion afterwards. I'm very picky with kdramas/etc and this is at the top…
Thank you for your words :3 I'll definitely finish it, tho probably not very quickly (I'm pretty sure I know who will be the "final boss", so to say, and predicting the ending always dampens my binge-watching impulses lol). Sometimes I wish I was a bit newer to dramas so I could enjoy the new ones more without being so jaded XD

Nobody Knows is a great drama but not everyone will enjoy it, but in this it's like more pop if its music, so…
I guess you're right, but seeing the ratings I thought this would be exceptionally good (not that it's bad... I would place it as above average, but definitely not masterpiece). Describing it as pop music is really spot on. Whatever, it's got the #1 beauty Lee Joon Gi, so I'm commited :D

On ep 3 now and I honestly don't see what the hype is about. It is good, but not amazing. Kind of predictable and lot of unnecessarily long scenes. Watching it at the same time as Nobody Knows and would say that one is more enjoyable. Do the plot twists become more surprising with time? (for someone that has watched a lot of dramas/movies...)

Chng Ge Xing is finally getting a drama :O kinda afraid how it's gonna turn out since the source material doesn't have (and who knows if it will ever have) an ending and from the trailer the drama seems more romance oriented than I would like :/

Title No Regret
As somebody who has seen the movie at least five times in the span of 10 years... I think that all the people who say the ending is random/weird/plain shit didn't really pay attention. I mean, I still find things I didn't understand before with every new rewatch.
It's a movie that requires you to watch closely and think about every word, action and expression. It's also a very mature movie for a mature audience - pretty sure that a lot my understanding of wtf is going on stems from the fact that I'm now 27 as opposed to my first viewing at 16. Not to mention you have to find the good subs bcs the earlier version is seriously bad.
In my opinion, No Regrets is one of best LGBTQ+ movies ever made. Because how often do you find one that isn't just a fetishizing fantasy/silly comedy AND doesn't end in tragedy?
Tl;dr: if you're young wait a few years to watch this, find the good subs and concentrate and you will probably enjoy this well-acted gem <3

Wow, this was such a unique piece. I was captured at once <3
That said, the ending baffled me a bit. I'm still thinking about Naomi standing on the beach and pointing into the distance... Was he just showing Mayu-chan the buoy? And did I imagine Mayuri smiling in the last shot?
