I’m always interested in behind the scenes - do you mind sharing who was casted originally and why the last minute switch? Btw I only saw ML in Crush course in romance and See you in my 19 life secondary roles - and loved his acting. I think he improved and nailing this king role..At the same time, my previous impression of FL was not so favorable from King the land, however I enjoy her in this role, esp comedic scenes. I always say it’s not an actor it’s the direction and script that either make them shine or opposite.
Ep 14 Came to watch this drama after Our generation mostly because I wanted more screentime of both leads.. Absolutly loving the powerful role of FL. Its amazing this actress is just 23 - younger when the show was filmed and playing a 40y.o woman with so much persuasion and power. 🌹
It’s been a while since I laughed so much watching a k-drama, although I’m wary of historical ones with their usual palace politics, bloodiness and high possibility of unhappy or open ending…. . FL is in much better role than King the land… and ML surprised me in this tyrant character - strong start overall.
It’s amazing how L looks and behaves like a cat - especially his eyes 😅 As a cat mama, I know this was written by someone who loves cats - they nailed the smallest details of feline nature. 👏👏🌹❤️ I also enjoy the vibe of this show- very calming, reminds me of This Is My First Life, and few other old k-dramas with this slower not overly dramatic mood - I miss shows like that.
Ep 2 I honestly don’t get this princess of a captain- how did he become a captain in the first place?! No team spirit, mopping attitude, talking back to a coach, leaves in the middle of their practice. That would never happen in rl. “It’s a drama” excuse is lame - it’s lazy writing - would be pretty easy to lift him up from this kind of state and show “character growth”… I’m rooting for the coach.. will see how long I last on this one 😅

This is a beautiful story about friendship, parenthood and love. Those relationships were precious. (Except, of course, certain characters)… I knew it would be good when I started reading polarizing reviews. It’s always those divisive shows that resonate with me. This is such an awesome show! After dropping so many newest ones, I’m rewatching this for a 100th time. One of only two of my favorite dramas that I can rewatch over and over.. Colorful characters is what makes it stand out for me - every one of them has so much personality. Love the underdog plot, the beauty of the sport, healing personal journeys of main characters, and all of them coming together in the end. 🌹❤️🌹
After watching OG, I had this feeling that I’ve seen this actor in another show - to my surprise not many dramas on the list and those I didn’t watch. Very talented actor. His role is so memorable in OG 🌹
I was curious if ML scenes indeed were cut production reason. And yes, I don’t rely on reviews nor rating to decide on watching a drama, my judgement solely based on a story and its execution. On ep 9 and enjoying it - great characters and friendships. I see why some people are complaining if they wanted to see romance and/or ML, as his story is not really present much at least in this half.
Overall good story and characters. Enjoyed it up to ep 15, unfortunately at that point it went downhill for me due to separation trope and weird pacing with time skips. In the end, they gave attention to all the other characters but leads. I rate it 8/10 (up to ep 15 - was 10/10).
