It's simple actually, this drama target audience was female, which is why you will see 2-3 guys jealous and fighting over FL. Even people in the comments section that has read the novel said that the scriptwriter intentionally making ML more unlikeable than he was in the novel.

Honestly, it feels like the romance parts are super predictable. I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but knowing who the scriptwriter is and who she’s writing for, it’s pretty much an open book. You’ve got the main lead (ML) who starts out cold and kind of unlikable, which makes it hard for the female audience to get on his side since he doesn’t seem all that into the female lead (FL). Then there’s the second lead (2ML) who’s like a total sweetheart, bringing all the good vibes and happy moments to the FL. And just when we think we’ve figured it all out, ML does a complete 180, suddenly getting jealous and falling head over heels for FL. But by that time, everyone’s already shipping her with the 2ML! It’s such a classic setup.
