You put it so nicely. We are all waiting for Jeremy to find that one great role to showcase his many talents and…
He commits 100%. Most don't go deep into learning fencing, horseback riding, archery, etc. It really helps because he makes it seem natural.
His martial art skills shined in this. If he played a vampire with supernatural speed and skills he would do fine too. The guy is a living reinactment actor.
Though the actress is young, I think she's doing a fine job. Her acting lessons paid off on this. True, it's not the GREATEST plot of many dramas, but I like slow burn stuff with lots of character development so this is candy to me.
I really, really, REALLY wish that China would be inspired by some western blockbusters and adapt or give a modern or historical drama to Jeremy where he plays a spy, cop, or someone with attitude. His serious expressions and his ability to do what I call role inception is great. True, he chooses some sucky parts here and there, but I think there isn't a lot of dramas with the kind of maturity that he is looking for in a role. I really hope he finds that maturity in his next role, and it appears by Deirdre's words, it is a role worthy for him.
I also would like more shows with males that support women and or females supporting females. Watching the women from that inn work together is fun. I'd love to see a Robin Hood type show where the is a band of women who have to save their men and or take back things from the kingdom. Someone in China needs to write that show. I wouldn't care if it's historically accurate, I wanna see women fight and kick ass.
Anyway. I like this show, and I like that it doesn't have slapstick humor or moments of cheese that some dramas have.
What ido you find unclear about the dream sequences? Just why he is having these dreams or also the content?
See, that makes a lot more sense. But since they didn't go that route, it doesn't gel as well. What do you think, based on how the drama is going with this, the path / outcome of the dreams.
Well, as outrageous as it may seem from a modern point of view, in this age and setting the mother-in-law would…
Was curious about that - do you think they're not trying in the bedroom, she isn't allowing the pregnancy to be viable, or someone just isn't fully equipped down there. Because four years IS a while and I sat there wondering if she had suspicions about him from the beginning or something else was happening.
Jeremy su always acting with girls half his age a whole saga lmao what a creep
Seems the production company is full aware of his age and who his co-star is, but I don't see anybody doing anything about it or enough vocal distaste. So, it must be an okay thing over there.
A paycheck is a paycheck it seems. I like to see him paired with girls his age, but unless he specifically asks for younger women or he is known to be some creep perving on him, a role is a role.
I liked the little background story that they invented for Shen Ran and Zhou Su’an, however her trying to undress…
"emperor himself who sent Lu Yan on this business trip to investigate corruption, all expenses paid" omg! well, this gives it some slight comedy flavor and lends to his 'no nonsense / frivolity = no no' attitude. But lol, could you just see them spending so much on that trip and the emperor getting the bill and going 'damn, what in the hell was in that shop?'

It just doesn't really add anything to the story. I'm sure the context and the dream sequences were better explained in the book, but in here it just doesn't feel important to me.
Synopsis from DramaWikiYong'an, the capital city, fell into chaos due to the collapse of the West Canal. Shen…
I like the mystery / thriller aspect. It gives Jeremy something to do other than oggle the girl. While I enjoy him romancing, I like mystery in my historicals.
Yeah I agree that the whole dream stuff isn't really adding anything to the show atm, other then the fact that…
Yeah, that shocked me on how popular that is in those. Or men who are abusive hooking up with the female. It's nice seeing a male and the other males in support being total wtf when she was telling her story.

I do think that Jeremy would make a great spy, too. Can we get him cast in a James Bond-esque story?

still disliking the dream sequences, I really, really hope they get explained more
