AoMike are the only reason to bother picking up this drama and watching it. Their onscreen chemistry is their best to date. Also, Aom and Mike give amazing individual performances as well as musically. Otherwise, Kiss Me was the most egregiously produced and written version of the Japanese manga, Itazura na Kiss. I could clearly see they know they were given shitty scripts to play, but those two made it work. So, I stuck around to the end just for them. By then, the core aspects of Itazura were changed. In this version, Taliw/Kotoko and Tenten/Naoki don't get married and date other people. Somewhere and somehow, Tenten/Naoki was hiding an ex girlfriend from Japan. Tenten/Naoki's arrogantly solemn genius diverged from here suddenly to a weepy, overly emotional douchebag. The screenwriters wanted to make Tenten/Naoki appeal more caring and romantic, but it grossed me out. Especially when Tenten was crying like a wimp in the rain trying to get Taliw/Kotoko back. The best analogy I could use to explain this is from Romeo and Juliet. In Romeo and Juliet, there is an iconic balcony scene Romeo climbs up to meet Juliet and there is a tragic death scene where Juliet and Romeo commit suicide to be together. I'm pretty sure if either of those 2 scenes were changed in future versions, that would change the meaning to the romance and tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. The same is what I will say about Kotoko and Naoki in Itazura. Itazura na Kiss centered around their being each other's first love, fateful reunion in the rain, and subsequent married life.
