Ep 4 : I love May too much, so what Kong did to May I can't accept it, May looks tough and strong but actually…
Completely agree that May is a great character. I don’t think it’s other people’s job though to figure out what May is actually like deep inside. Of course, once they become better friends, they should, but at this point, I think, it’s impossible for them (Kong in this particular case) to understand the complexity of May’s character because they know muss less about her than we as the viewers do. Also, they are still young and they are no psychologists. Kong just did what he thought was right. Personally, I don’t expect anybody to understand me if I don’t tell them about what’s going on with me. Protects me from disappointment and my friends feel less pressure to be able to read my mind. May protects herself by pretending to be tough. The new friend group can only see her toughness for now, that’s why they don’t question it. May (the character) is a great actress.

Hahaha, I feel you about about being drunk last night :))) Thanks for the sum up. You are completely right about everything. There were so many ways in which they could have made the second part of this movie more realistic and less creepy about the age gap and they change of sexual orientation.
I have mix feeling about this movie. The love story, ok. But Gay to straight? Really? Nope. Even if loving is…
The writers should just have made him bisexual and dive into this topic further. Bisexuality does exist and from my experience it is more common than most people think, but sadly it is often not accepted by society because they can only think in black and white.
Shishio could’ve easily been written as bi but they had him saying I know it’s selfish but I want us to be…
I was just about to leave exactly the same comments as you. The way they portrayed these two characters does not do gay people or women in unrequited love justice. But I am also ignoring it because it’s a heart-warming , feel-good drama full of cuteness, lovely smiles and good acting. As already pointed out by other people, it is pretty unrealistic, but which drama is?!
Your concerns are valid. I tend to not say anything about age gaps because different countries have different…
I think when Zong Yi referred to himself as a minor, it was related to drinking alcohol. The age of when you are allowed to drink alcohol seems to be higher in Taiwan than the age of consent.
Yes, but I'd prefer he still be connected to MI in the next life.
He didn’t tie his string to Pinky. He gave it to Pinky so that she would tie it to another human who would be Mi’s new love in her present life. Charcoal’s string tied Mi and the vet together.
Ok, I'm confused by the ending.1. Was red string between SXL (Charcoal) and Mi just a mistake and real fate form…
Wasn’t the elevator supposed to symbolise reincarnation and not death? I thought, Mi and Charcoal met again after dying and they chose to be reincarnated again to be together. However, they could not go on the elevator together because you can only reincarnate alone. So they didn’t know where and in which body the other one would be reincarnated.
I really love this drama. The slow burn romance is so refreshing and comforting. Some costumes may not be fully in accordance with 1927, but that’s understandable considering the budget. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the gay/lesbian relationships are not being hidden well enough. Even though the 1920s were more open than the decades before and after, in these circles gay people would have kept a very low profile and would have been super anxious and afraid to be found out. I don’t think there is any way that people used the word gay/lesbian openly (like when the father talked about the article about the lesbian couple). Also, I think that the master/servant relationship would have been way more distant in public back then. A servant acting up the way Jom did when he did not want to be the buffalo anymore, would have had him fired for sure. Anyway, it’s still a drama based on a novel (which I haven’t read), so it doesn’t have to be 100% accurate and I do like it a lot. Maybe the writers also did it in order not to set a bad example for today’s society.
The novel ended with a happy ending but we're not sure what's the plan of the series. Even Nonkul said we should…
Interesting. Thanks for the insights! I also hope that they will wrap it up in this season. Do you know if the Yai who kissed Jom under water when Jom fell from the bridge in the 1920s is the Yai from 1800 or from the present? Since he had a moustache, he’s probably from 1800 or what do you think?
This crushed me completely. I am in tears and I don‘t know how to recover. It touched me on so many levels. Great production and good acting. I hope there are not many stories like this one irl. Even though the end was sort of hopeful (more could not be expected), I don‘t think any of the three of them will ever be happy and in the end the child will suffer, even though everybody was happy that the child was born and she gives strength to each of them in their own way.
Thanks for the sum up. You are completely right about everything. There were so many ways in which they could have made the second part of this movie more realistic and less creepy about the age gap and they change of sexual orientation.
