Because Type knows Tharn and the only way he could stop Tharn thinking that way was to show him proof and he needed time. Tharn is the one with the toxic mind, he's making the relationship unhealthy. Type shows his love for Tharn by giving him affection and just by being there. Tharn is making it harder on the relationship. Type has put up with so much shit this episode/season I truly feel for him. Why can't Tharn believe the man hes been in love with for 7 years over a pen and a stupid peck which if he saw everything, would've seen Type pushing away in disgust and anger.

It's not about age it's about willingness, trust and the amount you talk also on how to do things differently to spice up the relationship.
