To me, this is a classic Xianxia that's executed well. I don't know why people like comparing with LBFAD as the only similarity is that they are both Xianxia. People who like classics (incl the high no of episodes) will prefer IS. People who prefer shorter plots with some modern touches will prefer LBFAD. It all comes to individual preferences.

YD gets her memory by end of Part1 whereas Poor TZ 's still clueless. Prepare lots of tissues for the angst.

This drama has 59 episodes plus 2 special episodes. It's actually a mature love story where both leads love & support each other without abandoning their responsibilities towards others. We have character development for both leads in Mortal Realm (ep 20-47). In addition, Mortal realm has adventures & it also introduce many sub-plots & other side characters. Maybe that is too many episodes for you if you have decided to drop this drama.

It's just my preference. I prefer a mature love story where both Leads have character development, love & support each other whilst still caring about their responsibilities towards other people. I find this type of story more realistic and produces good morale. Imagine if those with responsibilities abandon everything in the name of love! No peaceful life for normal folks. In addition, Leads' chemistry, excellent acting skills, beautiful costumes & props, detailed touch in this drama produce so many memorable scenes. I rate this drama highly because this is one of the few I rewatch.

Yes they just can't help falling for each other. It's never been love at first sight for both. They like each other the more time they spend together. Mortal realm is from ep20, but Leads don't meet until mid ep22

They develop feelings in Heaven realm around episode 9? However it isnt meant to be as Heaven realm has a rule of not allowing High Deities to fall in love (There's a reason behind it which will be explained in part 2. Then, we move on to Mortal Realm & both Leads don't have their memories but ended up falling for each other again. They become a couple in later part 2

Cheng Yi's potrayal of Xuan Ye is amazing. I watch the BTS & I can tell how much effort he put in to analyse the characters.

Wow!! Your analysis is great. There are indeed so many failed couple in this drama. They failed because one party is too obsessive with either love &/ power. Our leads are equal partners in the true sense. They understand each other well and they are very responsible towards the 3 realms. In real world, normal folks only have peaceful lives because of the sacrifices of these type of people.

I don't think it's possible as she's absorbed by the evil emperor.

Definitely, one of my fav scenes. I am still trying to find a BTS for this scene, but hasn't been successful.

Hmm maybe continue watching till ep 9 & see if you still don't enjoy it. If that is the case, I actually recommend taking a break before watching IS. Many people who watch IS after watching other summer dramas tend to make comparison, sometimes unconsciously. LBFAD & IS are both Xianxia, but they are different. For example, story pacing of a drama that has 36 eps will be different from a drama that has 59 eps. So, people who enjoy shorter drama will prefer LBFAD & find IS boring and has too many sub-plots. Whereas people who enjoy long drama finds IS has good character & story development, engaging acting & LBFAD rushed in some parts.
Again, it depends on your preference, but I do think you will enjoy IS better if you pause for a bit, switch genre, then watch IS again just as a normal Xianxia drama, with no expectations.
