Hallelujah! Thank you, someone finally raised this subject! I really, really enjoyed your article! I am so sick…
You are quite right, several independent character are presenting themselves. Thanks to this I am getting more choosy with every drama... ;)
But I still wish they would tone down the stereotypes.
:)

I am so sick and tired of all these "cinderella-type-girls". They start off as such hardworking gals with a HUGE moral compass. But once they meet their I am-so-troubled-and-no-one-understands-me-rich-guy, (why does either of them ALWAYS have to be dirt poor or overload wealhty?) it's like: Let's throw all my self- love and respect out the window, let's agree to let this bully dictate my life and the choices I make, why don't I also let him bring havoc into my family?
Coffee Prince was my second K-drama, to this day, for me, the hasn't been a better one! Especially in terms of female characters.
Thanks angain for your fine article!
I was lucky enough to experience Return in the theatre. Powerful. Beautiful. Just the kind of extraordinary simplicity and obstruction that makes life.
My sister and I even use it as a catchphrase (between the two of us). One can use it anywhere ;)
But I still wish they would tone down the stereotypes.
