Hello Fluffy's Mum!Thank your for taking out your time and reading my article ^^I truly wish for the both of us,…
I’m mostly swayed by the synopsis but like to check reviews. I only read the first two or three lines. People vent the best and worst at the start. The strange thing is I believe started watching K-dramas because I wanted to see and hear something completely different than what I was living through at the time. I didn’t want to be familiar with the language or scenery but did want the values I grew up with. I don’t watch slice-of-life dramas. To see that I open my front door. Overall, I’m impressed with K-dramas and know this slump too shall pass. Secret Garden, here I come back again…..

Personally, I don’t think you should force it. The free time you have is precious and life is short, if you…
My girlfriend only watches Turkish dramas. When we compare storyline plot notes with my K-dramas we found identically that the majority of mothers/mothers-in-law have screeching voices and insufferable personalities forcing a lot of fast-forwarding but not enough to drop the drama if the series is good. I enjoy rewatching my favorites.

Thank you! I really enjoyed your article and find myself in the same slump now that you’ve experienced after starting my Asian drama kick (mostly K-drama) in 2020. I don’t watch horrors but found your list of Dropped/On Hold list matched mine. I think I need to learn to match my drama selection to my mood-of-the-day. You have also helped me answer the question, when asked, why I turned to K-dramas. It definitely was the wholesomeness.

The mother in Something in the Rain... oh my god she was a piece of work... seriously off the scale of annoyances.…
I, too, couldn’t stand the mother in Something In The Rain. We only remember advertisements if they are very good or very bad. Maybe she was a plant for us to remember the drama forever!

Fun article! When I got to the paragraph talking about the mother (מכשפה) in Something In The Rain, my eyes became clouded and the rest of your article became a blur! This is the only drama that when the mother appeared on screen my index finger thumped the FF key. Until now I can’t get the sound of her grating voice out of my head. I loved the chemistry between the ML and FL. I couldn’t wait to write this comment so I’ll have to reread the article to enjoy the rest of it to comment.

Is it just me but I feel a little superior when my friends say they cannot watch movies with subtitles my first…
Too funny! I read your third paragraph at the same speed I read subtitles and understood it perfectly - proving your theory.

I also write short reviews for myself to decide if I’ll rewatch in future.
As I binge watch most dramas not only do I not remember watching, I forget most of the story. Rewatching sometimes feels like watching it for the first time. So the ratings and notes really help.

Glad you like them, על טעם וריח אין להתווכח Honestly I had forgotten aboout that saying, thanks…
!בבקשה It’s a great saying but I still find myself arguing about taste and smell on any other subject other than K-dramas….

The only time I ever recommended a show was “Mr. Sunshine” to a college professor who teaches foreign students…
For many years I had a Korean client. Through friendship I tried to learn his culture. I am Israeli living in the U.S. and compared the Japanese colonization of Korea to the British colonization in the Middle East. If I was in the professor’s class and she paired me with an Arab, I too, would have protested. I pick my own battles and make my own peace!

Truth be told, when i started to watch kdrama, i had a hard time to tell some of the actors appart (for some reasons…
I’m the opposite where I couldn’t tell the women apart. On the other hand I’m in the process of learning my 6th language, Korean, memorizing all the good looking actors names!

I have seen a lot of people mention theese situations here on MDL, for me it's mostly my husbands ability to walk…
I watch shows on my iPad while my husband watches his shows on the TV so he doesn’t get to see the tears. However, I’m the one who’s asking myself why do they cry so much?

Once again a different topic Shiro! 👏🙏 I am neither good at recommending nor watching what people recommend.…
I have a 10 minute rule. If I’m not captivated to continue in the allotted time I usually drop the drama. There are times reviewers have warned to hang in there after the 1st episode and they are usually right.

I rarely recommend something to people unless it deserves to be recommended. If someone has similar taste of shows…
The only time I ever recommended a show was “Mr. Sunshine” to a college professor who teaches foreign students in the U.S. She couldn’t understand why the Korean student didn’t want to be paired up with a Japanese student in a class group. She thought she was bringing on world peace. I thought she needs to learn world history through a fiction/facts based historical drama. I’ll update if she ever gives me a review!

Once again you have knocked it out of the park with your spot on article. There’s an expression in Hebrew that says; “There’s no arguing about taste or smell!” 🤔. When asked why I only watch Asian dramas (mostly K-dramas) I answer the question with a question, WHY NOT or EYE CANDY? I’ve stopped trying to explain or recommend. My husband made me create a new profile in Netflix and Amazon because he couldn’t find his shows anymore in the watchlists. On Viki I write short reviews mostly for myself to decide if I’ll rewatch a show in the future. My taste isn’t going to sway anybody. I don’t rate shows in Netflix as they don’t allow reviews so I write them here in MDL. . What is Netflix afraid of? This is why I enjoy your articles so much as your reviews are very close to my taste and smell!

Great article. Thank you! After reading many of the comments, I thought I was alone in skipping through episodes 11-15/16 in the majority of K-dramas and considered them COMPLETED. I start all the shows because I like the premise but at some point the plots are dragged out too long. I have so many dramas in “Currently Watching” and “Plan to Watch” your article has prompted me to really clean house and drop shows in my streaming “Continue Watching” that have been there for six months or more.
