I think the lipstick suits the lead actress extremely well. I think this role fits her so well and the styling is beautiful <3 <3

I'm a bit confused about SungJae. Since he just joined the army, did he finish filming the whole thing or is his character eventually going to leave the show?

I knew when LG couldn't figure it out that obviously ES was going to be the one to do it and he do it in one try.…
Thanks for the reply, I love having open and earnest discussion about people's different point of views! It really gives more insight into a story to have different people express their opinion on it!

It feels like we should know him the best as a person now since he gets a lot of screen time, yet I feel like he could be taken out of the show entirely. That's how much of an emotional impression he leaves. For me at this point it feels like he's just a tool to drive the story, but ofc there wouldn't even be a story without him! His character has been through so much pain, and it would explain his lack of "real" and truly genuine emotion because he simply can't show it. But still we're not seeing any struggle. We are not seeing a real personal growth in him. I definitely see that he is a person, but at the same time his character just doesn't feel real. I know that Cap. Jo is the "emotionless" one, but still he feels so much richer as a character. I wonder if this down to the different actors or the writer. It really feels like there were two different writers writing the characters. For example, ShinJae feels so much more like a real person, and just like LG he went through some stuff and is now dealing with it as the story progresses in a somewhat believable way and it's easier for the audience to empathize with him. It's just kinda weird. I guess this concludes that I don't like LG character much haha. But it's also a personal taste. I do know that I generally like more character based stories, so maybe I'm not in a position to judge this show based on that since the focus isn't really on portraying realistic people, but the fantasy and the story.

Thaaank you! I've been waiting for this thread, I commented on this subject last week but didn't seem like a lot of people agreed with me. This thread is literall phrasing all of my thoughts about the king's weird and lacking relationship with Cap Jo! I feel so underdtoood!

They need to do a better job with their bromance. So far I am loving Yeong's bromance with EunSup. Lmao
Same, maybe bc they're essentially the same person. Got to love yourself before anyone else

Dude chill Lee Gon doesn't really mean it when he's warning him and stuff he mostly does it to tease our bodyguard…
I got no chills for my boy Cap. Jo, I'll fight the king! Changes are though, that I'll get taken out by the very person I'm defending before I even get to touch him

It puzzles me how Captain Jo can still stay so loyal to Yi Gon, based on the treatment he's getting from him. I know he's employed by the king and their relationship is supposed to be strictly business, but I really thought their relationship was going to be a bit more loving since they established them as childhood friends. Gon doesn't show Jo a the slightest hint of gratitude, constantly belittles him and makes him feel like he can do nothing right, when in fact he's seriously doing his best to protect the king. I feel so bad for his character :(

Am I the only one that got confused for a moment when they started playing the soundtrack from Prison Playbook when the teen parents appeared in episode 3? :)

The previews are so misleading, they tell a totally different story.
I noticed that when I was watching reply 1988, looks like it's something this director/writer duo tends to do. But somehow I like it, it's funny how different editing can change a story completely and it makes me even more excited about the next episode because I know they're just fooling with me.

i actually didn't really notice those product placement in an emotional scene. which one? the grocery store scene…
CG is threaded in at various places in order to make the concept of the parallel universe convincing.
I'm attending an animation school.

the latest one was at a scene that starts at 1:03:42 in ep.3. just as an example. the two of them are framed between a store logo, and it's opening hours that are shown in the window. it's a very simple shot that could have been staged against any random wall. I guess I'm just seeing all of these things bc I'm currently studying film. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, it's just that I was shocked by the amount I'm seeing in this particular show. Can't remember the last time I saw so much of it in one show. But I'm still enjoying the plot so far, and also realistically in order to get the amount of CG done this show needs they sure need a lot of money, so I guess this is one way of getting it.

This is not an actual spoiler, more like a thing you can't unsee once you know:
The only thing bothering me so far is the constant and excessive product placement. Product placement is a normal thing to have in a TV show nowadays, but in this drama I feel like every second scene is involving a painfully obvious product placements, signs and logos placed in such a way that I can barely keep my eyes on the characters any more. It's really starting to snap me out of the story every time they place a huge logo beside the characters talking in an emotional scene , or literally place a scene in a grocery store just so the character can have taste of something and throw it into his basket with a following close up of the product. I just think it's a shame. :( what do you guys think? Too much or fair?
Other than that, I'm enjoying it. :)
