Article The Overwhelming Struggle of a Drama Fan
The longest drama I've seen is Dong Yi (60) followed by Empress Ki (51) and Six Flying Dragons (50). When my sister and I started EK, it was still airing. She didn't know that -- and neither did I. But by the 3rd episode we were too hooked to care about its length. I think it was meant to originally be 50 episodes but by then, we were happy for one more. So yes: Start a long drama when it airs. It also helps to watch it with others. 50-60 is doable; my fears are starting dramas with 100+ episodes. I have a few I'm willing to try. Long dramas mean you have space for character development and it feels like you took a journey with the characters. Now when I see a movie or a mini-series I wonder, "How can a story be told in so short a time frame?" As for my weakness, it is starting a drama. I fear disappointment and I am impatient but most of all I am picky. My PTW list is long but starting a drama is a risky and difficult choice!
