Love triangles are necessary to help the leads move along their romance. It forces one or both leads to fight for their lover in fear of losing to their love rivals. But most, if not all love triangles in Asian drama are usually one-sided, but that's not the problem. The issue is how much time the SL spends with th the main leads. For example, if the SML is given more time and interactions with the FL, especially romantic interactions, then that's a problem, and a reason why we dislike love triangles. The Forbidden Marriage had this exact scenario, and it lasted far too long.

I'm on episode 2, but I'm not too sure about this one. It seems to have a heavy and possibly toxic love triangle. Let's consider the evidence. The SML has loved the FL from the beginning, the FL was willing and almost married the SML, and now the SML is king giving him all sorts of power to command and to do whatever he wants with the FL. On top of that, the king has hired the ML to turn the FL into someone the king can marry. I might be wrong, but it seems this drama has a long, drawn-out love triangle, but i hope not.

Who's the ML? Ma Hoon, or Lee Soo? The description makes me think Lee Soo is the ML, but after watching the first episode, it looks like Ma Hoon is the ML.
