What a waste of a good idea and misuse of good cast, so slow and boring that I would't have been able to finish it if not for characters like Bu Ja and dog secretary.

Just watched episode 12 and decided to drop it. It fails in every aspect: ridiculously bad portrayal of jiang hu world and vapid martial arts scenes, almost non-existent political background and scheming, no big battle scenes, no sieges, encampments, no royal hunts. Even in its focus of harem/palace scheming and plotting, it is oversimplified, it lacks depth and emotion, no scenes with faithful, best friend/maid, no sweet fellow concubine that befriends her only to betray her later…..Ying Zheng comes off as an egotistical homicidal maniac and his relationship with Gongsun Li feels like a creepy obsession rather than love….I have no drama left to watch but I still cannot force myself to watch this

Really bad drama. It takes a talent to ruin things to this level….I managed to finish it with lots of fast-forwarding and just as an exercise in learning Korean, since they had a lot of text messages, cliché conversations and episode recaps…

This drama makes me still believe in good Korean drama making. I mean it is so dreamy, wonderful, like a book.…
Yea, I know what you mean. Last couple of years it has become increasingly difficult to find a Korean drama with “soul” and “original Korean feeling”. This drama really brings the hope back.

Title Chicago Typewriter Spoiler
I'm also confused to who or what OJO is. I'm leaning towards the theory of 'soul of the typewriter'…
Actually, when Yoo Jin Oh started picking up red beans l saluted the genius of the writers. Many cultures believe that ghosts will be compelled to count the beansand unable to do anything else until they finish (in Korean culture only red beans because of the Chinese “obsession” with red color). When Yoo Jin Oh compulsively -obsessively picked up last remaining beans and handed them to Bang Jin I just knew that he must be a ghost.

I think the director/script writer was dead drunk when they made the last 5-6 episodes. The plot and the dialogues made no sense at all.

Title Dramaworld
It was an enjoyable watch, somewhat ruined by the male lead’s bad Korean. After watching over 200 kdramas just the sound of Korean language is enough to put me in the “drama mood” but what he spoke didn’t really sound Korean.
