i want to watch this to see yeo jin goo but from the trailer it seems like there's a lot of second hand embarrassment inducing moments and i really can't deal with second hand embarrassment... so @anyone who's watched it, is it secondhand embarrassment bait?
I had been postponing ending this show because someone spoiled that Seung Jun was going to die....but I finally…
My thoughts exactly!! I was so shocked that Seung Jun actually died, I spent the whole last episode hoping to hear that he hadn't actually died.. I can't believe they left Seo Dan alone like that :( I spent a lot of time looking forward to their scenes together, and I almost took it for granted that they would also get a happy ending so I was really upset that it turned out like that. I can really relate to the favourite character dying thing too, it happens to me so often that nowadays I try not to pick a favourite character because choosing one feels like sentencing them to death :')
I gotta say though, the ending was rushed as hell! What happened to Cho Sun in the end? And to Ha In Soo? And to the king's dream? Does Yoon Hee being a professor mean she's still pretending to be a man? Or did they allow her to be a female professor? And what about Hyo Eun and the whole engagement thing? (I'm assuming it was cancelled?) Why did Sun Joon have a mustache? And did he and Yoon Hee marry? And Hong Byeok Seo! Did they just give up on finding him? A lot of things were very unclear, not a very strong ending. Still a pretty good drama tho.
Alright in complete honesty I only watched this because I heard the bromance was great. And it was! (It really was!!) But the rest of it was lovely too. I love the 4 mains and the bonds they forged, and how loyal they were to each other. The side characters were great too, I particularly liked that one trio of scholars and the 3 Soron musketeers. It was fun to watch, and while it did not have the most consistent of storylines, it still managed to keep my attention all the way through by way of the bonds between the Jalgeum 4 alone. Loved the OSTs too, especially that one instrumental one with the flute. Overall, I enjoyed the drama, especially the parts with Gu Yong Ha, who is an absolute treasure.
Yes, they never do tell us who she is! It would have been interesting to find out..
yea, i don't know why they even added Madam X to the story if they were just going to bring her up a few times and then never give us any more information
Finished it! Loved how sweet it was, my feelings were all over the place. I loved the dynamic between the characters, and the way it developed. The characters were so loveable! Aji3 is the most wholesome being ever to exist, Chae Soo Bin did a great job with both her and Ji Ah. She was ADORABLE and I loved all her scenes. I watched it for her and I'm so glad I did. Until now I had never paid attention to Yoo Seung Ho's works, but I see why people like him now, he put a lot of emotion into Min Gyu, so many of his scenes hit me right in the heart. Every time Min Gyu cried I wanted to cry too (and actually did a few times). Santa Maria team is the best team, we stan. Especially the boss Hong Baek Gyoon. I liked him, he was so smart and yet so so dense (it was endearing). Overall, it's a sweet, fluffy drama, that doesn't make the mistake of sacrificing character development for sweetness (there needs to be a little angst too!). I laughed, I cried, this was a good watch. This was the drama I needed to fill the gap in my drama watching, though ironically the withdrawal is going to have me in an even worse gap now lmao
Yoooo I can really relate to the withdrawal from Man to Man!!! It left me high on how many of my favourite tropes it included and to this day is still one of my favorite dramas. I even rewatched it without skipping and to this day it's 1 out of only 2 dramas I've managed to do that for.
The 'show hole' is a real thing :') I've had no name for it till now, but I've most certainly experienced it. That sort of gap where nothing feels good enough, and you're left searching for that something that a previous drama gave you, which feels near impossible to find. I'm currently really going through it, and for the first time I understand why people rewatch things. If you can't find anything new that you like, try watching something you know you liked already! I recently skipped through Healer to rewatch my favourite scenes with the main couple, and that helped me start building a (admittedly fragile) ladder out of the show hole. I'm considering going back to watch the dramas I started out with, as it's been a long time since I first watched them and I've forgotten the main points of the plot to the point that I can rewatch them and enjoy them almost like they're new. And even if you don't rewatch the whole drama, you can just skip through and only watch the parts you want. There're no rules :)
I do have one recommendation though; Chief Kim. It's my all time favourite drama, and it certainly delivers on both your criteria. Funniest drama I've seen while still being interesting and engaging. Also Junho is in it and he's very pretty. Give it a try! I think it'd be worth it. :)
just started this, (am like 3 mins in) and i gotta say when the synopsis said he had a human allergy i didn't realize it meant it literally lmao i though he was just really antisocial but he's actually literally allergic to other people rip
this is not a complex, deep or emotional drama. if you're looking for something complicated or with depth, this ain't it. the only point of watching this drama is to give you 10 minutes of enjoying the visuals of your favourite actor(s) from various angles in the cheesiest and most cliche plotlines ever. it's a thirst trap and BOY am i here for it. yes, i did cringe a few times. it's very very cheesy. but again, that's the point, and i love it.
i watched the park hae jin episode 17 times. i even cast it to my tv so i could see better. 10/10 would watch again.
saw this in the middle of the night on a 6 hour flight like a year ago and honestly forgot about it until now 10/10 excellent experience would watch again
Gotta hand it to this drama though, it managed to give me my tragic 'character tearfully holds his dying best friend and touching words are exchanged' moment without actually killing off the character and leaving me to feel sad about it for a week. Turns out you actually can have your cake and eat it :D
Loved this, it was so sweet and meandering. I usually don't watch saeguks, in fact this is the first one I've actually managed to finish. So I'm rather surprised it managed to keep my attention the whole way. I guess the time was right to watch it. It's not the most unique of plots, admittedly, and some parts of it were a bit underwhelming. But I enjoyed it for the characters and the way they interacted with each other, and the relationships they built. Even the side characters were lovable, and I grew attached to many of them. Park Bo Gum played his character beautifully. This is the first of his dramas I've seen, and I finally get why people like him so much. Ra On is cute as a button while still being a great character, Kim Yoo Jung really brought her to life. Would have loved to see more of Ra On, Yeong and Byeong Yeon together though, they were a really fun trio. Overall it's not a grand masterpiece or anything like that, but I liked how just plain sweet it was. Sometimes all you need is just a decent plot and a fluffy romance. Add likeable characters and stellar OSTs to that and you have a drama that is not too emotionally draining or unpredictable, but still keeps you emotionally invested and interested. Overall it's a solid 8.5 from me. I'm willing to admit that it could have been higher if we had gotten to see more of Byeong Yeon, I liked his character a lot and I feel like there were some missed opportunities with his plotline. (Mild Spoiler)Additionally, it lagged a bit near the end, as what made it most enjoyable was Yeong and Ra On's interactions, which sadly got fewer as the plot started to pick up and ready itself for conclusion. (Spoiler End) But yea I do recommend it if you're looking for something that will make you feel, but is still lighthearted and fun.
Also, A+ OSTs, I've got like 6 of them stuck in my head now. Will forever be mad that they're not on Spotify :')
