I'm literally getting whiplash from this "artsy" editing- its so bad. I can't believe they have used one of the best young actors in Japanese media, Mamiya Shotaro, and NOT used his skill AT ALL! This is such a disappointment. This was one of the very, very rare times Shimizu Hiroya is playing a lead and they did him SUCH disservice.
I loooooved Misty, pretty much everything about it. I do think that a lot of people didn’t like this drama because…
Thank you for the reply! While I agree with most of what you said, I disagree with the fact that the romance wasn't really the point; it was- most of the promotion, trailers and articles centered around the romance, not the mystery. The mystery was simply described as a catalyst that reinstates GHR and KTW's love. Idm romance taking a back seat, but not when it was clearly advertised as something else.
In my opinion, Misty was incredible but the last episode was a mess! I think a lot of the plot holes could have…
Thank you for your reply! I personally think the vacation route is too out of character for KTW and GHR. When the whole drama is centered around justice and the characters (ie, KTW and GHR) are so morally upright, letting the characters forget this entire episode and start anew like nothing happened is entirely unrealistic. Yeah, it would've given the viewers the happy ever after that we wanted, but in the end, I feel it would also be slightly patronizing, like the writer just threw us a bone after that emotional rollercoaster.
I don't know how to feel with Park Bo Young winning Best Actress over the other actresses (particularly, Jang Na Ra for Go Back Couple) who were nominated... Personally, I felt that PBY's acting in the drama wasn't as good as some of her previous works.
I liked the first episode but whole episode was around her decision to study arts and people not listening her…
In Asian society, studying the arts isn't encouraged- in fact, people who do study it are looked down on by society as dumb and ambition-less. Making the decision to study it in high school is a big, big deal. Unlike the Western world, Asian society (from the West all the way to the East) is very collectivist; one person's business is everybody's business. So her decision to study the arts is not just hers, its also her school's, her family's and society, ESPECIALLY since she's amazing at science. The 'especially' is key here since people would give less of a shit if she were poor at studies. Source- me. I went through the same dilemma (not Chinese, but another Asian country with similar school system). My teachers constantly discouraged me from giving up on the sciences because I regularly topped my class. When I put my choice as arts, the school called me up multiple times to ask me if I was 'sure of my choice'. Ofc I'm sure of my choice, people! I wouldn't put it down otherwise -_-
The show is amazing, but what I always appreciate the most is the atmosphere- the white snow falling, dark filters and then the warmth of all the characters. It's like getting up on a cold, snowy winters morning and drinking a hot cup of cocoa huddled in a thick blanket. Even when it gets sad, the atmosphere is still there!
Great article! I have only watched Love o2o and Boss and Me but I want to watch more dramas from China. Can someone…
Love Me if You Dare is usually ok, but certain scenes (especially during the times the male lead was kidnapped and tortured) can be too much if you dont like violence and blood. And then, as with with normal detective/investigation dramas, there is the occasional gun wound or blood on the floor scene, so see if you are ok with that.
I haven't watched When a Snail Falls in Love, so I can't talk about that (though I intend to watch it)
This reminds of the webtoon Do It One More Time (same plot, same concept, same everything!). I love that webtoon! I hope this is as good- if not better!
Jung Hwan didnt confess because of the sake of his relationship with Taek. He did have rhe courage but he liked…
Exactly! He loved his friendship more than his love, and I don't think that's fair to Duk Seon. And while I share your sentiments about the chemistry, a lot of people feel there was.
No offense but I don't know man, I live in Japan and constantly try to watch Japanese dramas but they all…
Hey! I get where you come from- Japanese dramas definitely dont have the 'wow' factor of K-dramas and usually have lower production values. But unlike some K-dramas where they try to make the depth obvious to the viewers, J-dramas tend to be more subtle; they put it in the littlest of things, which (for me atleast) makes it all the more special :)
your article intrigued me to watch some J-drama romcom (I'm not an avid Japanese drama fan though but I want…
Lots of people liked A Girl and Three Sweethearts (while I didn't) so maybe that might be your thing. Switch Girl! is hilarious and the lead couple is cute, so definitely give that a try!
You, my friend, are much more nicer and forgiving than I am. The villain was great, though, I agree. Really gave me the creeps. I felt like giving this up at the 36th episode, but I felt way too bad at leaving it so close to the end, so I tested my patience and continued
You know what is unfair? A mediocre drama like AG&3S won TONS of awards (even in categories like best couple-…
I do actually agree that NwH's couple was better than AG&3S, but I do know many people who thought that they were too distant for 70% of the drama and never showed the 'signs' (I disagree, but a lot of people felt that way). But still.
You know what is unfair? A mediocre drama like AG&3S won TONS of awards (even in categories like best couple- they had ZERO chemistry) and excellent dramas like Dame ni Watashi and Nigeru wa Haji won only ONE each. Fujioka Dean and Fukuda Kyoko had much, much, much more chemistry anda better relationship (ie, they actually talked to each other and didn't run away whenever they had a small misunderstanding). I am also a little sad that Nigeru wa Haji didn't win Best First Episode. AG&3S was okay, but Nigeru wa Haji's first episode, I felt, laid a very good base for the next few episodes. It adequately summarised the tone of the whole series, giving the viewers a good expectation on what the rest of the episodes will be like (if they want to drop it or continue).
I get that Yamazaki Kento and Kiritani Mirei are more popular actors with larger fan following but... it's not like I have to like it.
Hahahaha I'm the complete opposite of the statement (paraphrasing) "KDrama and JDrama fans are willing to try Taiwanese dramas but not cross over to Japanese or Korean". I routinely cross-over to J-Dramas and rarely watch/avoid Taiwanese dramas (I dunno why, but I dont like them a lot :/)
I haven't watched When a Snail Falls in Love, so I can't talk about that (though I intend to watch it)
