Don't stop watching this after the first episodes. You will regret it. It gets better and better. The ending is so beautiful, I cried for a long time... most poetic and sweet drama ever. It is completely unbelievable from the beginning to the end, but you don't care about that at all because it is all so full of love, love that triumph over everything, even the ML & FL wanting to be evil, but they end constantly doing the opposite because of love. Instead those who want to be good in a rational way (the good of the family, the good of the lower class, etc.), will end destroying the very people they love. It is like socialism vs capitalism. Capitalism is harsh, but things will never get as bad as when people will decide to do good forcefully. It is this contradiction the theme of this drama, and it teaches us more about human nature than any realistic drama. Because only a drama made with the heart and not with reason the truth tell us about our hearts.
And what a narrow minded thinking,a journalist is a busy person so he can't be in a relationship. There are many…
You are right. I'm surely impressed by the realism of this drama. I really am. BUT... Unfortunately, I watch drama to escape reality, not to get another painful dose of it. Some directors and screenwriters seem to be keen about telling the audience that life sucks. Well, I have a bad news for them: we already know it. This is why humans invented art a long time ago: to overcome the wasteland of the real with the poetry of imagination. You are artists. You are supposed to push humans to dream so much, that they will end make that dream to happen in the real world against all odds. This is how human rights, democracy, justice and all those impossible dreams are made real everyday even if they once were (and still are) impossible. Because if everyone has the same dream, reality ceases to matter. This is the special power of the humans. The power to make dreams so amazing that they become real. Remember that every single progress of our civilization was made by an idealist who dared to dream the impossible. The one who dared to think a world without slavery was perfectly aware that was impossible. Who would renounce to the convenience of owning a slave in this troubled world? No one with a rational mind. The same with justice and public police forces. What army would choose to obey and protect the people as 'police' when they are armed and stronger enough to oppress them and make them serve you, the group of the stronger? What army would take orders from a little politician instead of grabbing the power and rule? No one with a rational mind. And that it is exactly why to do it you need to use the very opposite of reason: dreaming. If you can make enough people to share the same dream, that dream will become real. If you cannot do that in your works, I have no bloody use for you. You may be a skilled screenwriter or director, but if you think you are making art just by bringing the harsh reality to the audience without giving them any hope, you are sorely mistaken. People learn very soon in life the sorrowful nature of reality. They don't need you to remind them. Because the way they fight and survive against that is exactly through the very thing you refused to convey in your works: dreams. Yes. They fight using their dreams. Everyday. Their dreams are their only shields. But they are more than that. Holding to their dreams is what makes survival and even happiness possible. Humans are magician, and their magic is their hope and their dreams. If you want to be an artist, you should learn to be a magician. Otherwise, 'you are doing it wrong'.š
P.S. Don't get me wrong, my dear Kwon Do Eun. I know exactly what the second interpretation level, the hidden symbolic meaning of this drama is. I know perfectly well that the FL, the daughter of a news anchor, is a symbol for 'the word', aka 'the language', and that the ML believed in the power of 'the word' to console people until 9/11 showed him that 'the word' was not nearly enough before true suffering. But incidentally, the symbolic layer of your work is also wrong. And for the same reasons of the first level, the literal meaning: words are not enough, but dreams and hopes are still the only way people can cope with tragedy. And without the words we would have an hard time sharing the hopes and the dreams that can help us changing 'the world' to make sure those tragedies like 9/11 will never happen again (and, for those in-the-know, that they do not HAVE to happen again).

As an Italian I'm finding it difficult to even start, please tell me is it good enough?
For us italians the italian mafia depiction is a little funny (especially Song Joong Ki awful pronunciation), but the central theme of the series - the fact that only evil can fight evil - is masterfully depicted in each scene. The only thing lacking is the music score.
This is an awful adaptation of one of the best xianxia novel of all times, āDesolate Eraā by IET. In term of popularity and ranking āDesolate Eraā is second only to the king of all xianxia novels, āI Shall Seal The Heavensā by Er Gen. Too bad they ruined it so badly that even subtitlers are refusing to translate it...
Thank you for this list! School Dramas rule! I also mantain a more general list of the Best School Dramas (including japanese, korean and taiwanese ones) here: https://kisskh.at/list/PLpWWAJ1

We have already a great rating system on MDL, why use those stupid polls so easy to hack? Just add the option to rate the actor interpretation in each movie/drama. Also the writer screenplay, the director job and the OST of each movie/drama can be individually rated when the user cast a vote for it. From those ratings, you can easily generate all the categories results at the end of the year and announce the winners. We already got a six values rating system for the reviews. Just expand on that, and add the option to rate actors performance plus screenwriterās and directorās job in each film/drama.
Also, for next polls I'd recommend having a log-in required (like google docs) poll, because the poll system used…
