I agree with you, this is Hou Ming Hao best acting so far. Tian Yao (back from the brink) is my first love but Hou Ming Hao lacked in expression in that drama and he was dubbed. But in FoF, he did an excellent job with ZYZ and it shows how much he has improved as an actor to the point that just looking at ZYZ expression we can feel his pain, loneliness, love, frustration, sorrow, etc.

This is what made me love ZYZ, he is a 30000+ y.o demon who has seen many passed away during those years, also carried the pain of what happen during the red moon. The struggle to control and suppress all the negative energy within him plus the endless burning of that fire. A person who kept all inside him and just let everyone judge him and treat him as they wish. Although he had so much going on inside, he was one of the characters that smiled the most in the drama (some were bitter smiles, I know, which made it more hurtful). Out of all the characters I could understood his feelings the most.

Answer to your question: is this drama worth the watch? Yes, but it also depends on your taste.
The actors did well with whatever the screenwriter and director gave them. It's flaws mostly is in the script and editing. but is there's ever a perfect script? This director love tragic and sad ending, and someone already gave you a huge spoiler. However, there's a special episode with open ending. In my personal opinion that special episode wasn't needed because it gave viewers hope for one character, but not for the others which I consider unfair as all the main characters were loved by many viewers and everybody has their fav.
On a side note: Consider if it's reliable the opinion of a person who gave 7* on her review but rated it 1* on her watch list.
