its the opposite the detective afopts woosung, and the couple keeps visiting as they lost their right for afoption…
But didn't the detective in her letter to Soyoung say that Soyoung asked her to take him and she couldn't fulfill her request to her? - but the subs that are out aren't great so... Also the detective would only be able to adopt him if she got married as well, as SK only allows adoption by straight married couples (and they have to be married for over 3 years IIRC). It wasn't clear if she was married to the guy, to me it seemed she wasn't.
Alright, so I just finished watching with a friend and after going back in the final scenes here's what I take to have happened:
Sang Hyun loses his motivation for the money (he only wanted it to get his family back) which is important. Sang Hyun also kills the shark while Dong Soo goes to make the deal with the couple. He runs away (we see him after while the news shows the station they had all just come out of). The police find the money for the deal in the shark's motel, so Sang Hyun never went to take it either. Dong Soo and the couple aren't charged to the full extent because the deal never happens (as established by the detective telling Soyoung that if she gives herself in - without doing the deal - she will go to prison but get parole after 3 years). Hae Jin goes back to the orphanage. The couple adopts Woosung, the detective can't but stays in touch and visits . The detective tells Soyoung, Hae Jin, and Dong Soo where they can meet Woosung with her every month. It is implied then that Sang Hyun has gone missing after the murder. The final scene is us getting to see the three of them making (or trying to make) their way to meet Woosung again.
It's not that serious lol yall have got to acquire some chillPeople have zero obligation to watch shows the way…
It really is not that serious though - you're entitled to your emotions, but being able to take a step back and evaluate the value of investing in them, and whether or not they're warranted, is a valuable thing to be able to do. No one else is required to value ratings the way you do, nor rate shows the way you want them to. I've followed Krystal since forever, and it doesn't make it more okay to be aggressive to people who for some reason don't enjoy a project of hers that I'd like to see succeed. "Dropping a 4 after not even finishing the episode/drama" means that the drama failed to engage the viewer, and a 4 rating makes perfect sense for them to use, and they don't have to justify that to anyone else. If I did that and got someone going into my profile and confronting me about it, I'd not only be turned off watching the show completely, I'd maybe even get a negative impression of the star whose name is being used in the nickname of the person hassling me over something that is in fact a hobby that I spend my free time on for myself.
Being invested in getting people to know about the drama and want to watch it is one thing, and yes, more eyeballs on the show does matter. So props to you for being engaged and having the energy and will for that. The negativity with which you've done so in the most recent comments generally achieves the opposite however. And a reminder: MDL rating does not in fact matter in the big scope of things, as the greater part of kdrama watching demography doesn't even know MDL exists. The average person scrolling Disney+ won't decide on whether or not to watch because this site has the rating below 8 or what have you. Then yeah, I'd suggest taking a breather and maybe taking a break if this is affecting you negatively this much, but you're entitled to continue with the behaviour you want to have, it doesn't make a difference to me at the end of the day either way.
We all can get a little carried away sometimes, I feel you!
For me I think in these times it always helps me to purposefully focus on good feelings. I had to do that on another show I really enjoyed recently, where I was getting annoyed at some erm readings I strongly disagreed with. I stopped and took stock of my feelings and decided that it matters more for me to enjoy myself than to have others see things the same way/agree with my feelings/whatever. So I cut out participating/reading those types of things and enjoyed the HECK out of the rest of the show hahah. So hey, I totally get it: if other people don't like the show that might be disappointing, but it's way more enjoyable to focus on having fun with watching the show and enjoying it with other people who do. Different strokes for different folks, let's just chill and have a good time. :) I for one can't wait to see the rest of the journey this show will take us on, and I believe that us discussing the things we enjoy in the comments here is what will matter for people who might be a bit discouraged by the first episodes.
Saw your profile and you rate it at 4 when you only watched the first two episodes. If it's not your taste can…
Don't mind the absurd replies you've gotten, you don't have to justify yourself to anyone. The first two episodes are indeed very slow, and if I wasn't a fan of the FL I would've questioned continuing to watch it too because I don't have free time to spare and spend on things that "might" get better as it goes. I personally am glad I stuck through it because the following episodes are very funny to me, and now the chemistry between the leads is lovely, but it might not be worth it to others to stick it out. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the next episode, and if not, that you find another drama that you'll like instead. :)
Wanting people to dedicate their limited free time beyond what they feel is worth it on a drama that doesn't make the needed impression on them at the beginning is absurd. Someone rating a show that fails to engage the audience in the first episode lowly isn't unfair by any stretch of the imagination. This is literally what all media nowadays has to do to keep viewers/readers/listeners in for the ride, and if it fails to do that, then it's not on the consumer; it's on the makers of the product.
Chill out and leave people alone. MDL ratings are meaningless. Enjoy watching the drama yourself and take a walk or something.
It's not that serious lol yall have got to acquire some chill
People have zero obligation to watch shows the way you think they should, or rate them according to your standards. If they rate it low that reflects their experience in the way they rate shows, there is nothing "unfair" about it.
The first 8 ep m/1st half was an entire arc itself to build up that rivalry & Asian Game in SK which was amazingly…
Yeah, those were soooo well done. I understand why they didn't go further in depth with the Olympics (and the match itself managed to be as amazing as the Asian Games one you mentioned), but definitely wish we could've seen HeeDo's excitement and experience of everything else the Olympics means/can offer. :")
I was thinking of Kang Min earlier today as well, although not for the reasons. I'll get to that earlier. To supplement…
I definitely feel like money would make sense as Segi's motivation, and the gambling thing would make sense when coupled with us finding out that his father is in the hospital/elderly home.
The contrast between the care we briefly see his father is getting vs the hospital NGJ was in. Nothing indicates that Segi's father is getting top tier treatment that good money could bring, which is puzzling because why would Segi not be able to afford that?
We also see Segi's stronger emotions at how his father only cares about his daughter during the visit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that Segi's frustration wasn't about his sister not being there AT THAT MOMENT, but that it's impossible for her to be there. It made me think maybe his sister died - and what if her death was somehow related to NGJ? Following the theme the writers set up of NGJ making Shinah sick because of his treatment of her, I don't find it farfetched.
So: sister gets sick, Segi spends all his money on treament for her, she dies, his father gets dementia, he embezzles/gambles for more money, is unable to get enough, so tries to take over NGJ's place for his wealth and for revenge?
This is all assuming my memory isn't failing me and that we haven't gotten confirmation that his sister is alive and healthy.
Ep1 is very introductory so I getcha, but if you like dramas that make fun of usual tropes it quickly starts getting hilarious from the 2nd episode already.
Where's my Yurim/Heedo folks at because I'm currently writing us a full Madrid Olympics and what was supposed to be a self-contained short story now is a whole four chapters and I'm going slightly insane making up an entire non existent Olympic event to shove my feelings at.
In all seriousness I really do wish we had gotten to see more of Hee Do's first Olympic Games (all the more reason why a couple more episodes than 16 would've been nice). It's just such a huge thing to get to and accomplish, regardless of medals - not to mention the huge event the Summer Olympics are in and of themselves!
Can anyone with a better memory than mine remind me if we were ever told why Yijin and Yurim became close in the first place? They went to the same school and we got a couple of flashback scenes, plus the thing about him getting his family to sponsor her, but do we ever get some brief comment about their families knowing each other or something?
Can you please mark your comment as a spoiler? For those who havent' watched yet.
I don't think anything about her present husband has anything to do with YJ or the break-up however. Her line at SW's dad's funeral does not clearly indicate that IMO, and it was years in the past as well - she either got divorced and is now happy, or did not get divorced and is still happy. You can use the word "content" instead if it seems better, I guess.
I really don't know what about her in the present shows in the slightest that she's not happy other than people not vibing with older HD's actress. Having regrets is part of life, but at no point does she express any wish that she'd stayed with Yijin; her clearly expressed regret is HOW it ended, but she says she is glad for everything she went through and hopes her daughter gets to experience those things as well.
Of course we all have different opinions, and that's what I said in my comment in that it's fine to criticize, but a lot of the comments here are failing at the most basic of levels of any sort of media literacy, while commenting emotionally and pretending they're being logical and objective about the quality of the writing instead.
I'm curious, what do you think would've made you feel more closure from the ending?
I personally think more episodes would've been better than trying to fit the whole timeline into 16 eps (even if the 2 final ones were 1.5hrs) given how much focus there was in the younger years, so I can relate to feeling like it was rushed given how much the pacing picked up. Maybe 18 episodes would already be enough, not even 20? I was also sad not to see present-day YR, SW, JW somehow, but I don't mind it too much given how they addressed each one before the end. Ship wise I wish Hee Do and Yu Rim had ended up together romantically but the show was clearly not going to deliver that so there's no reason for me to push my feelings on that onto the show - and that's the same thing I think people who wanted HD and YJ to end up together forever should keep in mind.

So God bless them for casting Kim Jae Wook. All kiss scenes have been top tier, and with my girl Krystal to boot. A+++

Oh well. At least there were nice discussions during airing, which you were also a good part of, so cheers for that! :D
I think (hope) it'll settle back down as time goes on and more people check it out.
