The audacity of the writers to have the FL dump her boyfriend while he's grieving then pull a time-skip reunion is enraging to say the least. At least she had her parents and bff to lean on. He had no one. That scene where he's standing outside her house, alone, while they have a lively family dinner...gawddd that was heart wrenching. At a time when they needed each other the most, plot forces them apart. WHY??!!
This is a 10 for me, mainly due to Inoue Mao and Sato Takeru's performances. After watching just a few scenes, their chemistry sank its claws into me and never let go. Would love a repeat of their pairing in a future project. People might be put off by the ML's death from the start. Still, the bittersweetness of the characters' journey is worth watching imo. I'd say this story is more slice of life drama--- confronting mortality, dealing with factors that you can and can't control, grief. Equal parts painful and heartwarming.
It's frustrating because I actually liked UEE's chemistry with both of her leading men, especially w/ the actor who plays TM. I was rooting for him. Then THAT scene happened. Neither love interest cares about what HS truly needs. They only care about *their* need to be with her. The only worthy ship for me now is HS x Independence. It's absurd we're still getting this tired, old slop served to us in 2023.
The pool should be credited as part of the main cast lol The acting and chemistry and cinematography are top-notch. It's a shame the writing ruined this show for me. It's like an odd mix of 2023 visuals with 2012 makjang plot points. I guess I'll just reread the webtoon.
Easy, breezy fun. Ari, Joonkyung, and Shihyun would've been a throuple in another life. The atmosphere around those three were always so emotionally charged. Maybe I'm just a wee bit delusional and enjoyed the actors' chemistry too much.
I've rewatched this a few times but for some reason, it still feels incomplete in my mind. If they can get 20-something year olds to play high schoolers, then they can use those same actors after the time skip. A lil wardrobe/hairstyle change would've done the trick.
This was brutal LOL. In the end, I was comforted and content but maaaan the road to get there was stressful. Definitely wanted more scenes of our leads being cute.
A single mom forced to be a mercenary in order to pay for her daughter's surgery. Impoverished people getting food from soup kitchens. Corporations owning your info and your brain. We got cool shooty-shooty bang bang robots tho!
Very surprised at all the comments. It's like the commenters miss the point of science fiction. The themes explored…
That scene where Seohyun's colleague was using her mom as a s*x doll was disturbing. I'm used to a lot of horrific imagery but the callousness of that dude...
If you love shows like Age of Youth/Nothing but Thirty/any show where a group of women are ride or die for each other as they navigate through life, then this show is right up your alley.
Solid 9 for me! Maybe it'll creep up to 10 depending on how S4 & 5 go.
Why there are so many "brotherly" figures who have underlying romantic attraction/obsession with the FLs in these dramas? The FL calls him 'older bro' and has made it clear she only sees him as that. I find it so icky every time he showed up on screen. I'm thiiis close to popping a blood vessel.
I just want more genuine older brother-type characters who care for the FL as a person and not as a love interest to fuck.
For me, the only saving grace of this show is the main couple's chemistry. And the badass secretary/doc couple.
Wish I read your comment earlier. 8 eps in and I still dont get what the hype is about. The no. of ppl that gave…
Ha! Kinda reminds me of his romantically-constipated character in Innocent Man where he literally did everything else but tell the girl how he felt. Don't worry, this show will be knocked off my watch list over a weekend.
Came for the spooks, but instead I got barrels full of tears. I watched the last half of the show while exercising since I couldn't keep still. Running while bawling my eyes out and cussing out park il-do burns a lot of calories!
