How am I supposed to see the movie? I realise people have different tastes, but again, I don't really understand why so many people like it so much. I'm curious to at least see through these audiences eyes. I both write screenplays and do other things in this field, so it's interesting for me to know.
Snowpiercer and the Call are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. There are actually quite a few others rated far less, but since I'm working and a bit busy I don't have the time or energy to look them up anytime soon. As a matter of fact, there's one I'm thinking of right now, but I can't even recall the name.
I've been thinking about it, and I don't think the problem is the story. It's just the way it was told. The movie on a whole is alright, but it was just too formulaic, for lack of a better word. It isn't exactly gripping. I don't really think we even get to bond with the main character. It's more like a Y/A novel that followed a formula. That's it.
It's not a bad movie, but I think it's definitely overhyped. I have a theory that some of that hype might be due to fans of Choi Woo-shik. Not that Choi Woo-shik isn't sexy, so please don't come for me. Hearing him speak English in that accent did things to me.
Based on the praises that were being rung in reviews, I assumed it would be a sci-fi masterpiece. Again, across the board, it's not bad at all! But I have seen better Korean movies rated less.
EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot to add story was unoriginal, and the plot twist was very anti-climatic.
I see a lot of people everywhere saying this is a masterpiece, but I'm on season 1 episode 5 and just a bit confused. I can't understand Dong Sik or the way he reacts to anything, or his motivations. Just when I think I'm beginning to figure him out a bit, I'm thrown off. The same goes for a few other characters. I just can't understand this series, full stop. I get the gist of everything, and I like the plot twist. At the same time, it also feels like we keep going around in circles. Some parts are a bit anticlimatic to me too.
I'd rate BE a mid 8. It did keep me binge watched though. Even though I'm a fan of SHK, until this drama, I didn't…
I don't think it's a silly question at all. I was the same with me for The Untamed/CQL. A lot of other people watched it and enjoyed it. I just couldn't get into it for a long time, yet people kept encouraging me to stick with it. I did and it took me over two years to start to get over how good it was. You're right that the person might just plain not enjoy it, but sometimes there's a chance that they will, especially if so many others loved it so much.
I completely agree, sometimes the fluff series just get too repetitive. I just wanted to ask if you had any more…
Oh, thanks! I actually watched it already and read it too. I'm not really sure why people consider it as a BL though, since the feelings were never reciprocated. It's more of a rape recovery story.
All this time I had no idea there was a manga? Weird, because I'm only now noticing a few comments that mention the manga. 😅 I'll definitely do that. Thanks!
Did I mention the actor Lee Hong‑nae is hot? Oh, I did? Let me say it again, Lee Hong‑nae is FIRE. The uncharacteristically nasty things I would do to that man surprises me. 😩
I'm not sure how much longer I can tolerate this. If no longer comment on any drama, it means I died of thirst. 😢 Death by Lee Hong-nae's sexy, sexy self. 😢 Lord have mercy! I'm really suffering, you guys. 😭
Haha, Kyung Yi picked up another shoe from the dumpster before climbing up.With the beam, same. I was so pissed…
OMG, thank you so much for the explanations! What you said about K and Kyung Yi is true. Sometimes I think I can smell Kyung Yi through my screen, which is just...😕 I really hope Santa isn't a bad person. He's adorable, but I have so many questions about him too.
