I'm completely baffled as to why people love this drama so much. I can't tell if I'm missing or missed something. I'm so confused I keep wondering if I should try starting it again. Maybe I need to wait it out some more?
I got as far as episode 4 and couldn't continue. The effects are good. Aesthetic feels authentic. I actually liked the first episode, but the show in general feels generic. I feel absolutely no emotional connection to any of the characters. I don't like Rabbit's character already and find her deeply annoying and a bit stereotypical female action anime lead, fulfilling her fathers legacy, blah, blah, blah. A part from that, she feels so empty.
Alice is just...ugh. I felt like I was grasping at air trying to find some reason to like or connect with the guy, and I couldn't. I really couldn't give AF about him, his goals or his feelings. I think I cared more about his friends tbh.
Everyone else seems to be gushing about it, so maybe i'll start is again soon when I'm less stressed out.
Is this worth watching? I've tried watching just the first episode for 6 times already and I can't get through…
It's alright, I guess. I didn't think it was great, but it's not terrible either. Has some good effects and is something good and mindnumbing to pass the time.
Interesting, but some things are just plain unrealistic. Currently on season 1, episode 9. Unless I missed something, why does she have both shoes now? π€ She lost one, and Santa found it. I remember because it had a tracker inside, but now she's climbing with two? Huh? I'm really hoping I missed something, because what a thing to overlook!
Why is that net tied so securely at the bottom??? Why didn't she just crawl on her belly on the beam instead of trying to balance on the beam??? How the hell did she get at the intersection of the beams in the first place??? I have done the math in my head so many times and it makes no freaking sense...So many questions and this is just one episode. The plot armour is strong in this one. But anyway, I guess...
I'm just grateful it doesn't have an unnecessary romance plot like so many K dramas I've seen. So far....π I find that gets annoying real fast. The gay romance was refreshing to see since I don't generally see those in K dramas.
Anyway, like someone said, Santa is too adorable. Everytime I see him, I want to baby him and stroke his hair. Feed him. He awakens a maternal instinct in me that I never knew I had. I'm partially watching this because of Santa. If he dies, quite a few people will be getting strongly worded emails from me.
And Lee Hongβnae. Jesus Christ. Everytime he appears on screen I curse in disbelief. How can one man be so hot? I have to keep rewinding each time he comes on, because I can't focus ...
Also, I secretly ship Koo Kyung Yi. If there must be romance, I would like to see something between both of them, if only to rock the boat. But alas, it will never happen!
I'm a bit confused with the rating...I realise everyone has their 'thing', but I'm assuming it's mostly teens and preteens watching this? It's very corny, predictable, and juvenile. Not much conflict happened in the first couple episodes... I was a bit...bored. I've been doing a lot of fast-forwarding...A bit...preachy in some moments.
Reminds me of one of those low-budget American teen series on cable, but a little more Americanised??? π€ I wish Thailand would start playing by their own tune. Thai culture is AMAZING! Their film industry has so much potential! Yet, I notice so many of their films and series are heavily Americanised, and that's never a good thing. You can make a magnificent series without buying into cultural imperialism.
In comparison to 99% of the Thai series I've seen, the acting and cringe factor isn't as bad, I guess? Oh, it's still cringe and some of the actors could do with an acting class or two, but it's not unbearable. The writing is just...It could be a lot better...
Characters? I understand there are a lot of children here, so here's the heavily censored version of what I have to say: I couldn't give a rat's behind about anyone else but Pete and Kao. Everyone else is boring me to tears and I have absolutely no emotional connection to them.
Enough with the flashbacks. Please! π
The cheesy sound effects as usual make me want to hurl myself into Mount Doom.
I'm now at episode 4. I'm happy I stuck with this series! It's really cute and the acting is a pleasant surprise. The leads have nice chemistry. Not hearing the sound effects anymore. Not sure if it's because my brain blocked them out.
I think maybe it's first time i saw a probably negative comment here or maybe not but atleast for me. But if you…
@DramaFreak I'm not really sure how you guys got that I want to see something more serious from my comment. I was already aware that Bad Buddy was going to be a romance comedy. I'm actually enjoying it so far, despite the limitations it has because of its low budget. I think it's charming.
However, I think that the cartoonish sound effects detract from the quality of the production. That is all. The sound effects don't actually add any real humour to the series, and I think it would be a lot better without it. A lot less forced.
Furthermore, I really don't think anything is wrong with me criticising film or fandoms. Thai BLs are bursting with potential, but they have a long way to go in terms of production. As someone who works in film what I said is far from being a negative review.
Not really sure what are you expecting from a Rom-Com genre, especially in BL. I don't think it's really fair…
@alexkung I realise it's a rom com, but I just don't think the cartoonish sound effects are appropriate. I like the series so far, but I think the sound effects detract from the quality is all.
Currently watching...It's nowhere near as bad as most Thai series I've seen. It could do without the cartoonish sound effects though. π€ I know what they're trying to do, but it doesn't work here. It makes it seem corny and a bit amateur. Anyway, back to watching. People who recommended it to me aren't off of probation yet. π
With so many of you giving this series good ratings on social media, it better not be terrible like the usual Thai BLs. If it is, you better start sleeping with your eyes open for wasting my time! π
