I'm not 100% sure of what I am going to say, but I here is what I think : 1. Commiting tax fraud is commiting a crime against the chinese government itself, and Chinese people are really patriotic. Of course there is the ideology, political view and all, but it is too complicated for me to get into 2. In China, Public figures need to maintain an the image of an honest person. They can't do illegal things because they are seen bu everybody. They need to be shown as example. 3. I think Chinese netizens are quite critical. There is this thinking, which i agree with : 'You're not special, you can be replaced by anybody. So if you do something unworthy, by what right can you benefit from notoriety / fame, when there are many people as talented as you and more respectable than you' 4. I heard that DL received multiple warning but did nothing about it, that's why people are so harsh. 5. Also, tax fraud has been a big issue in the entertainment world (Fan bingbing, Zhao Wei), so doing tax evasion after such scandals is incredibly stupid.
PS : English is not my first language, so there may be mistakes, but I think is still comprehensible. Also, I was raised by my chinese parents and grand-parents so I kind of get the mentality but I also grew in a western culture (France) so I might be wrong on some point.
