Stay tuned. If the series doesn't appeal to you in the next 2-3 episodes, then it's really not for you. I also like happier dramas (e.g. RomComs) better, but The Penthouse is indeed a gem. 😊

Definitely! I don't know what episode you're on, but be sure to keep watching. I'm almost done with the first season and I still say it's one of the best dramas I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of them. :D
You toughen up a bit the more you watch the series. And the plot twist is really 1A.

No. I'm just on episode 10. I originally wanted to drop the series after the 2nd episode because the beginning was very hard for me. Bullying, betrayal, treason, etc.... But luckily I continued watching and now I find the drama TOP. Each episode gets better and better! :)

Well, the standard of living in Korea is indeed high, but what is shown on TV is only the beautiful side of Korea. How the majority really lives there is nowhere shown. In fact, the majority of the population does not live as well as it is portrayed in their movies and series. It's just like in the USA. One only sees the beautiful side of the USA. But the fact that over 50% of the population lives below average can only be seen if you have been there yourself, or on the basis of public statistics.

Samsung is the main sponsor in most Korean drama series. That's why they also promote their latest (and most expensive) smartphones. Of course, it is not as it is portrayed in the dramas. A poor person cannot afford a Galaxy S22 Plus or even the Z Flip, of course. After all, these smartphones are expensive even in Korea. This is just advertising, nothing more.
PS: In Europe and the US, the Z Flip is also one of the most expensive smartphones and it is more expensive than an iPhone Pro Max.
I should never have started watching this drama. I have never seen more bullying, lies and betrayal in any series. And I've only finished the second episode of the first season! This series is dragging me down. I think I'm going to drop it, because if it gets worse I don't want to watch it any further. Unless someone can convince me otherwise.
Before that I watched a RomCom. This is the complete opposite.
EDIT: Forget what I wrote. I'm on episode 10 right now and this drama is one of the best I've ever seen. The first two episodes may be hard for some but it gets better and better with each episode. Definitely watch it!
But it is just as racist to deny that she also has Central European roots and to claim she is purely Japanese.…
Why are you suddenly twisting the subject? I never said that there is no racism in Japan.
That is not the issue, but the term "hafu". This is not a discriminatory term and is preferred even by half-Japanese. And this is from one of the documentaries about Hafus. http://hafufilm.com/en/about/meaning-of-the-word-hafu/

In Terrace House, a Japanese man meets a half-Japanese man and asks him comfortably if he is half. And he answered yes quite carefree. Publicly in front of the camera. I think if this term was so discriminatory they wouldn't do it.
BIRKENSTOCK!!!The whole talk about pure and not pure is racist. You might not think that you are racist but you…
But it is just as racist to deny that she also has Central European roots and to claim she is purely Japanese. She is half-Japanese. The Japanese term for half-Japanese is simply "half" and that is an official non-discriminatory term in Japan.
Can anyone explain to me why Park Dong Hoon was crying so much in his apartment at the end of the last episode? Is it because he felt so sorry for Lee Ji Ahn when he heard the story from his brother about the movie with the children? Or was he left by his wife and that's why he was crying? Because in his office he has photos of his wife and son (who is studying abroad), but he himself was nowhere in the photos.
And I don't understand why Gi Hoon wanted to break up with Yoo Ra so badly. She's a big star now, so what?
If you want an actual well written and acted show that requires you to do more than sit there half asleep - watch.
You're the one who has nothing to say in response to comments and instead attacks offensively. You attacked oven3939 first and then appeal to your own opinion. That is not an opinion but obvious verbal attack. I asked you several reasonable questions and presented reasoning, but you instead insult and twist my words as you seem to have no real counter argument. So which one of us is the internet clown?
I'm still waiting for a reasonable response to my questions and arguments. And this time without insults and twisted words.

Since you still don't seem to have understood my comment, I very much doubt your intelligence.
And since you don't even seem to respond to my comments properly, and instead just want to make others look stupid (because you can't seem to think of a better counter-argument), I see no reason to discuss further with an Internet Rambo like you.

Where are these millions of people who hate this drama? Prove it with facts and sources.
And no, you are of course not obliged to like what others like. But if you want your opinion to be accepted, then you have to accept the opinion of others and not question them. To declare the drama as trash just because YOU don't like it and you didn't understand it is generalization.

Even Wikipedia says nothing about this.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafu_(disambiguation)
Except the following:
"In a wider sense, the word can be used to describe a child between any combination of mixed parents."
And even in the articles you linked, it doesn't say that hafu is meant to be racist.

Read it (if necessary, even five times), understand it, then comment.
