What are we if not the culmination of our memories? The ending left me quiet baffled and disappointed. First, the logic of it all made no sense. She was living with her niece, dating and friends with people from her past lives. This was her life. And she forgets it all and what... became homeless but rich and went back to her old position not remembering she ever had her new position. It makes no sense.
But secondly, and mostly, I never believed this character would choose to forget the ML, her niece, or her sister. The story never convinced me she would be willing to forget them in order to break the cycle of remembering her past lives.
This entire life, it is said throughout, by her, is a chance for her to reconnect with and be with Seo Ha. This is her first time wishing to remember. She spends 15-20 years pursuing a career simply to get close to him, achieves her goal of all that, tells him, they're barely together, and nope. I'm going to forget you all now. What? Very very VERY poorly executed and thought out. You even have the character saying she doesn't want to forget them in this episode. What are you doing? And the whole contrived "if you don't forget them they'll get sick or bad things will happen to them?" had me up a wall. I've seen comments that none of that nonsense was in the webtoon. No clue why the writer would consider her forgetting herself and everyone she wants to remember and be with in this life anything but a horror story type ending. But it's played up as a happy one here.
I don't know. I loved so much of the show. It had me bawling many times over. But it was also super repetitive, so many repeating shots of past things, and really poorly edited at times. But I overlooked most of its flaws throughout, and only started tapping the ff button in the last two episodes to get through the extraneous plot and characters. Disappointing way they chose to end things. The FL in a way kills herself at the end and becomes someone new with no recollection of anyone she's been close to... (but has new implanted memories of a life she never had.... and yet the main cast all remember their interactions with her??.. none of it makes sense.) Anywho! The ending irked me. Cause what are we if not the culmination of our memories?
