I dont understand the point of this movie, like the punchline is... she realises she's lesbian? Okay... But then why does her romantic interest be diabetic?? Like it bothered me what symbolism or definitive purpose it had except to make them bond over it as she attempts to approach her the first time. Come on...
Its severely not friendly context wise for those who arent even into the genre. So many plot holes that made the overall impression lopsided and dull. Its 2 hours but too many "dead air" that didnt flesh out the characters intentions for me to feel something. Theyre not memorable at all.

There are raws online and some Japanese subtitles untranslated to English. I really want to watch this movie. I'm not fond of Uwaki but the plot seems interesting, bridging marital relationship through the lenses of an affair. Tons of symbolism. I was particularly pulled by the wife's conversion to being a nun.

The movie is quite dragging. Had several scenes that were too long with little to no punchline. The theme is already heavy, melodrama as it is yet the pacing made it boring. It doesn't help that the lines between characters didn't really evoke a strong reaction from me. It was hard to relate to the events happening and overlapping. Gave the movie a 7.

On Hidarikiki no Eren Jul 4, 2025
This series haunted me for a while just when I was entering architecture school. A lot of its themes and conflicts passed around and exchanged in between characters ring so true in areas of creativity and art and the pressure to do well with it all. How people deal with their own inadequacies when standing side by side with someone who's naturally gifted or who is way ahead of them. It's heavy and messy at times as it does in reality too but the show managed to handle and carry it nicely along the way which I like.

Title FACE MAKER
There were episodes that were one a kind. Never seem such plot in any other so at times scenes would just pop into my head randomly. I like stories where it owns itself and this was it.

Most stories with foundations on plastic surgery is for petty revenge, for admiration, from bullying, crime which the series does have but focuses, to me, on angles not explored more. It does seem comical but the execution and punchline is there.

Person Nagano Mei
Tons of clips showing her being cunning and low key bullying her female costars in comparison to her male ones made me feel disgusted. I read a comment that a loose crotch would always loose to a cunning woman.

Her image is really tainted with all those shameless messages with Tanaka Kei.

I don't like the way the characters are written. The actors DONT HAVE ANY CHEMISTRY at all. The premise was well set out but the way the romance was brought about is tasteless to be frank. Kentaro already has a history of romance series and he doesn't have any problems in bridging chemistry with his other co-actresses I guess but I really dislike their dynamics with Seino. It's so paper dry. It lacks depth, contrasting life into their pairing. I dropped it.

On Come On, Irene Jun 26, 2025
Title Come On, Irene Spoiler
I find the characters sad, miserable and tragic. The mother is the source of all things. Mostly because she herself inherited horrid treatment and an environment that didn't nurture well. She tried to live in her own terms and I think Iwao is a coddled man. Why wouldn't she be satisfied with just anyone that her son reached 40 to marry? It's impossible with her.

When Irene got introduced into their lives, there was promise that they could have all be happy. It's just that Iwao started shallow. All he wants is sex. He doesn't know how to nurture a connection. All sex. He sees women 2 dimensionally which is.. terrible. Irene wants a better life for herself but got bought into a miserable situation in the first place.

Its icky the last half. I think she would have been better if that Yakuza man successfully
whisked her away. Twisted, but he was trying to correct something he saw in his mother with Irene. Its a dirty and messy plot, I cringed a lot with Irene's character but she's resilient in her situation nevertheless.

She's from a poor and uneducated family, you can't expect from her to act sophisticated all of a sudden. She's childlike because she's prejudiced that marrying a Japanese would bring money, love and happiness to the family. Typical of the poorest in the country.

This movie caught my eye, I remember vividly, when I was 15. The poster image didn't help obviously. It took a decade before I watched it and I fell in love with the plot. It's definitely not typical which is very interesting. The otherwise tricky themes were handled well and gently although some scenes felt a bit rushed. I wish it was longer but the chemistry between the two mature (older) male lead and female lead are very refreshing to see on screen. I was satisfied and haunted in a good way of the ending.

Don't take the ridiculous parts too seriously, I think it adds more highlights to the story and especially fleshes out Kaieda's character which is a nice touch. What is it that they say... Enjoy the ride. The cinematography is very calming and warm.
