True, there is a thin line between filler scene and explanation (background of the character). I guess only big budget drama could get the chance of a second season, technically a drama with more than 40 ep.
Became less attached to the story after ep 30 with the political and the past of the elder generation. Too bad that they cut a lot of scene from the second couple (Yu Qianqian and Qi Min) the story line was more catching than the main couple. I guess if China didn't imposed the law for 40 ep max, we could have a better understanding and the POV of each characters.
