This is how I saw that rescue scene ( non novel reader ) - that she thought she was dead a sec ago and now she is alive and confused as she least expect him in that situation and she didn't know that he was around. She was more grateful than awestruck according to me. Till date she has not thought about him proactively. Not even when he was around her. He has saved her twice, initially when the fire broke out during the new years and secondly during this bandit attack. If it were any other female, she would have by now seen her as his wife but on the contrary CSS forgot about him as soon as he was out of sight of her.

I guess the writer has changed many things in the drama. Till date she has never thought about LBY explicitly.

It's true that I have not read the novel but I can see how things are unfolding. She is literally making LY run around her like a dog and even he is doing it willingly. She might not be able to do the same with LBY so she might not like his marriage proposal.

I still think CSS 's mom has not done anything wrong , her ways were off but she has an oversmart kid so i kinda understand her. Till 1800s women were just a creatures who are there to bore children and nothing else. They were never considered as human beings. So CSS discipling her kid before society ridicules her is nothing wrong. In ep 22, the way she greeted the emperor, she could have been beheaded for that but just because LBY likes her, she will be spared. So why shouldn't mom be angry or upset on CSS. Again, we can come back on saying nobody thought her since childhood but we all have seen how CSS is, she would rather take military punishment than correct her ways so nobody can help her.She should learn on her own.

Are you kidding me??? Which asian parent doesn't compare their kid with a topper of the class or neighbor kid or overachiever cousin. This happens even now in every city and in every household. That is how parents are. They will send the kid to a boarding school to either discipline a naughty kid or if the boarding school is a top school. This doesn't mean they love the kid any less.

You know right there is so much more to a marriage than just running around to get food for CSS. The money is also not his, he is basically unemployed. I agree if the family is rich, one doesn't have to put in so much of hard work like others do, but this guy doesn't know hardships (he himself has confessed this). For ex. when they were attacked by bandits, he just stood behind CSS and did nothing. Is that how he is going to take care of her,? Life or marriage is not always rosy, he doesn't have a strong voice. Like he is saying yes to everything CSS is saying, he will be doing the same with his mom. They both were out on their own so they are unaware of how things and people change. Same LY won't behave the same infront of his family. This is what even CSS parents are afraid off that he won't be able to protect their daughter from his family considering how their daughter is. A spouse should be someone who is a best supporter and at the same time a critic. He/she should be able to correct the other person if he/she is wrong that is how the other person is going to grow not just continuously praise her.

That is what even mom is saying that she is young to get married. Inspect the field 1st.

I feel sometimes you should let a child touch fire instead of telling it not to touch because it's gonna burn you. Experience is an excellent teacher but marriage is a too big of deal to let her learn on her own lol

I know that CSS was always on her own and has not actually seen true love and care until she saw 3rd aunt , dad, brothers but there should be someone to discipline her. If everyone just takes the easy route of pampering her then who will discipline her. Despite being hated mom still took the hard job. CSS is 15, still a teenager and a perfect age to rebel. If you encourage her then now she has collapsed a bridge, in future she could do worse. One shouldn't encourage such behavior, but military method was too much but again CSS wouldn't budge for any other punishment.

Not telling that aunt is wrong but aunt doesn't have any children of her own so she doesn't know how to raise a child. Its like its bookish knowledge and not practical experience. But mom's methods are harsh too but she can not suck up to her daughter because she is way too smart for her own good. Mom has observed this , then only she adopted those methods but again everything failed. CSS has the ability to confuse an elder, she is way too smart in a cunning way.

IKR.....when i saw how she was so stubborn and didn't show any emotions when her mom cried and i was like let her marry him and then learn her lessons. No doubt that LY is a good guy but this guy has never seen any hardships (he himself have agreed to it) and have never earned any penny in his life so life is not just about getting delicious delicacies for his wife that is what Cheng parents are worried about that he won't be able to standup for their daughter. They are too young to understand this. LY and CSS are taking this as some house-house play. CSS treats LY as her comrade and best friend and not as Husband. Ofcourse intimacy would come through time but will their relationship survive till then (we have seen this through many episodes that she wants instant results). She thinks he will be able to get out of his home and they will be free from grips of parents from both sides (i almost laughed when she said that) but that is not the reality. LY is the youngest and his mom is a widow so which son would leave his mom and go. CSS is just thinking marriage is very simple and LY would be her side like he did till now.

Exactly right and mom did do things which she thought was correct to her daughter but her only mistake was she treated her as her brothers while punishing and reprimanding

Even though LBY comes on screen for some 2-3 mins, his aura is just too Divine....lol

Unpopular opinion about CSS's mom.....
For some reason i kinda started understanding CSS's mom......
From the day CSS's parents have returned home, all they wanted to see was their daughter but at that time she was sent to countryside to reflect on some of her mistakes because she had played some trick on her 2nd aunt, in that process she actually fell ill and when she returned home she was still a patient. As soon as she saw her parents, the only thing that came to her mind was to show her parents how badly she was treated by her aunt and grandmom in their absence. She was hell bent on showing them how bad her grandmom and aunt are even though she had to pretend and play few tricks. But unfortunately mom saw through her tricks. Mom observed her daughter for few days and dissected CSS's tricks. The 1st thing that came to mom's mind was to educate CSS but to CSS it came across as her mom is also no different than her aunt and she is not on her side. CSS wanted instant results about punishing her aunt and grandmom but mom wanted to handle the matter more cleverly. Again this looked like mom is actually punishing CSS and not doing anything to her aunt. I am not disregarding the fact that the route the mom took was kinda strict and she didn't try to talk to CSS from the time she came back from the military expedition.

What mom saw was a girl who is ill behaved, illiterate, full of tricks, no respect for elders. All she wanted was to teach her kid manners and educate in as less time as possible but that came across to CSS as her mom totally dis-likes her and she became even more stubborn and did opposite to whatever her mom told her to do. To make it worse, now mom had to take care of yang yang who is the polar opposite of CSS. Now it was confirmed to CSS that mom doesn't like her at all and is biased towards yang yang.

In today's ep. 16, it broke my heart to see how CSS was unmoved to her mom's tears.

I kinda see my mom in CSS 's mom.....I think its every asian mom's characteristics. My mom would scold me 1st if she hears that i was hurt and then console me later. She will be like you should be more careful on road, ofcourse as she cannot tell the other party so all she can do is tell me to be careful. This doesn't mean she isn't on my side. Even today she tells me to behave well in public, to sit in a certain way in public, not to shout when there are elders in the house and I am a 31 years old working woman and i still get to hear such things. Well i can only imagine how it would have been in those times for women like 300-400 years ago. CSS's mother's concerns were genuine. In every household , mom always plays a bad cop and dad a good cop. So for every daughter , dad would be the fav person among her parents. How to be a mom doesn't come with a manual, its just moms do things which they think are correct to their kids. If its a daughter then their responsibility becomes 10 folds more when compared to a son. Its 21st century and these things still holds good. Daughters someday are married off and had to go their in laws to live. In every stage, she will be told how badly her mother has taught her daughter. Again i can only imagine how it was back then, so CSS's mom is afraid that CSS will be tortured at Lou's place.

Just a thought , definitely not trying to blame Noh DaHyun.
If she had not fainted and her memories were still intact then she could have helped many people.
After that incident, Han SeJin/Ji Won Tak and his dad's lives were ruined. Gye Hyun and his family was ruined, his dad must be probably dead. Lee JunGuen died (not that i am complaining, but he was the main key/witness). Only if DaHyun had helped the police back then in catching the culprit , many lives would have been spared.

Is this from the novel? LBY 's family name is Ling but the emperor told something about Hua family? So his mom is not his actual mom but his aunt?

To protect you and other citizens someone has to the dirty job of killing right, which is why we have soldiers. So that we all can sleep in peace so they have blood on their hands

But again this was the very reason gye hoon was reluctant to get into a relationship because he was afraid that even she would leave him in the end which happened. Now he not only knows that where his sister was kept but also knows that his gf was with her. How heartbroken must he be in.
