You make an interesting and valid point. I like your solution but the drama makers are about making money and casting to a wide audience as possible, not a section of it who would prefer either a FL or ML centric plot. Therein lies the fault and they end up messing up a great novel plot and create disappointed fans. Maybe make it film first faithful to the novel and see how the public like it then do the drama with more details? Just a thought from the top of my head.

We thought it was a kiss and got excited for nothing, a bit like Yan Tuo trying to control his breathing from being that close to Jiu Luo, and she just looks at him askance; you have to love their acting. Any more scenes like that and I'm a goner!
