Had so much potential until it tanked in Episode 7 by introducing the Childhood Sweetheart trope. Seems like the shortcut to turning enemies into lovers is bam! add ‘They met each other as kids’ + a pendant and done. They forget all enmity. Saves having to work on properly developing the arc of enemies to lovers I guess 🤷🏻♀️ What a huge disappointment that every drama nowadays is one with Childhood Sweetheart trope.
Every single time the girl is a childhood sweetheart that ML keeps pining for. Like every single one of these dramas they have some childhood encounter after which the ML is whipped. *sigh* Why can’t there be atleast one drama where they get to know each other without one secretly pining for the other since childhood (with a pendant)? Ugh
Stayed till the end hoping there was some chemistry between them considering the romance tag but damn, dunno who’s ’Beloved’ they are talking about in the title but apparently not FG’s lol cz that romance was staler than a week old loaf of bread. (the secondary couples were sweet tho)
And I dunno why people are saying that she willingly gave the seed so it’s alright but tbh he DID make the decision to sacrifice her so 🤷🏻♀️
and considering how unromantic FG’s character was throughout, they should have just removed the romance tag and cut the whole last-minute-semi-confession monologue /reincarnating together scene cz it just feels forced. Should have left it as just a Xianxia/Wuxia drama.

Not to be a buzzkill but ep 20-21 not only is the whole 'copied her personality from a book' a poor justification but she actually clings to him like girl are we forgetting all that went down in the first half of the show lol
