I don't want my illness to worsen. Hating is so tiring. This is already tiring for me, what more if I continue hating it?

Yes, I am indeed a hater of this movie. Isn't that obvious? I'm not a hypocrite. Why would I watch a movie I hate only to end up hating it even more?

I don't see the hallmarks of a reader here. A true reader knows that there's a lot to discuss from the start.…
Because I hate how people lie about reading the novels I read. You're just saying something. YJH doesn't have any regression SKILLS. You don't read at all but keep lying that you are a reader.

Hahaha It's obvious you haven't read the novel. Besides Jihye, everyone else is the same? Where did you come from? Their skills alone are all different. YJH doesn't possess any regression skills in any part of the world. It's disgusting how diligently people pretend to read novels when they don't. Is it because you lie too often that it becomes a habit? Lying is bad behavior. And perhaps because you're not used to it, you do it so diligently.

Plus, Rotten Tomatoes hasn't even reached 40% yet. So, yeah. How bad is it, I wonder?

Was this really that bad ?
Just try watching it. I didn't watch it at all, but the comments from many people are that they can't even watch half an hour of the movie. If you don't believe the comments here, you can look for creators who have seen the film. Creators who truly enjoy the film, not the actors. Those who are not familiar with it say that the plot doesn't impress anyone. Just like a really immature fantasy movie. The character changes are too fast, making it difficult for people to follow the storyline. Most of the viewers here are not neutral, so you should look for the clips yourself.

ok... i don’t think this deserves the hate it is getting. As a novel reader, I knew this would be vastly different…
I don't see the hallmarks of a reader here. A true reader knows that there's a lot to discuss from the start. You only describe ORV in general, not as a whole. I'm tired of saying this, but seriously, you guys need to stop pretending to be readers. This is so annoying. I can even pretend to be a fan of the actors when I want to hate this movie. Even Lee Min-ho's fans expressed their disappointment. I could pretend to be a Lee Min-ho fan if I wanted to. But I know it's really dirty, so I won't do it.

Very good. But I'm not sure that the audience will be able to read it. They are even reluctant to read illustrated texts (webtoon), let alone read novels? They are only able to pretend to know about ORV rather than truly understand the story

It had something. But also nothing.What the hell is this movie?The only good thing about this movie is the cast…
No. The movie doesn't even come close to the novel at all. Not even 10% of the novel. The original author couldn't even watch the movie until the end because only the first scene when Dokja sitting on the train was similar to the novel

I think the worst thing they did was mostly how they made it into a movie and not a series. It would have translated…
But I don't think this studio will be able to do it well, no matter what genre it is. They didn't read carefully. They didn't even know that Kim Dokja didn't recognize Yoo Jeonghyuk and Lee Hyunsung's faces. Kim Dokja could recognize their faces because Lee Hyunsung introduced himself and Yoo Jeonghyuk was the only one who got out of the carriage next to him. In this film, Dokja recognizes them once he glance. They really did this movie a disservice. And no matter what the outcome, if they don't read it all the way through, it won't work.

This is so sad for all the actors. They get unnecessary hate because the studio changed the original plot too much.

When they recruited the kid, they thought, “this kid is going to be an icon of cuteness!” But what they got was criticism that Lee Gilyoung LA should have died quickly because he was too much of an acting up in the movie.

Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint (often abbreviated as ORV) is a popular web novel from South Korea. Here's the explanation:
- By September 2019, the original web novel had exceeded 26 million views on Munpia.
- After the webtoon adaptation began, the web novel’s IP (intellectual property) showed strong sales synergy. For example, the web novel/webtoon combo reportedly earned ≈ 1.6 billion won (≈ USD 1.3 million) in just one month after the webtoon began publication.

Manhwa / Webtoon
- Illustrated by Redice Studio, serialized on Naver Webtoon since 2020. (Media Indonesia
)
- The global version has around 3 million followers and over 284 million views on its first volume (digital and physical combined). (ICv2
)
- On the official Webtoon platform, it has about 359.6 million views and 3.3 million subscribers. (Pinkvilla
)
- Across all platforms globally, ORV has achieved around 488.7 million total views and 4.1 million subscribed readers. (ORV Fandom
)

Live-Action Film
- The live-action movie adaptation premiered on July 23, 2025, in South Korea. (Wikipedia
)
- On its first day, it recorded 122,491 theatergoers, topping the Korean box office. (Koreaholik
)
- However, it needs around 6 million viewers to break even, which is considered ambitious. (Allkpop
)
- After the first three days, it attracted about 281,263 viewers. (Allkpop
)

The novel and manhwa were popular. However, the live-action adaptation ended in worldwide condemnation.

That's how they were. When the film still in the theaters, they claimed they'd read it and that it was faithful to the novel. They even suggested others watch this bad movie. Now that the film couldn't even survive 5 months in the cinemas and was declared a total flop, they are back to their true colors. Even the illegal films couldn't have the same popularity at all.

Without ORV's name, they would never have gotten 1 million viewers even with all those supposedly top-tier actors.…
This movie is so bad. You can't even say it's good. You just can say "it's not that bad." And the sentence "not that bad" is a word that can come up because of the plot is already in the ORIGINAL WORK. So, if you put aside the plot of the original work and without the name ORV, this movie is REALLY BAD. I'm sure people wouldn't be willing to go to the cinema even if there was a second film. Like everyone here who only showed up when there was a ilegal version of the movie. They are even reluctant to pay a penny because this film is not worth a penny.

Yes. Actually, those people are just watching because it's trending. Still, it's the fans of the original series that are helping Demon Slayer's popularity. With the animation still a bit lacking, sitting at number 6 beating F1 is a remarkable achievement. And it's not far from the efforts of the original fans who promoted the anime so well.

I just wish they didn't mess it up and took more care in the animation. Anime is our only hope right now

People still don't understand that the plot is good because they stole from an existing novel, not because they…
They stole. Because in 2022, Naver implemented a policy forcing authors to relinquish the copyright to their stories. The contract itself was signed by the studio and Munpia, not Singsong as the original writer. And the author itself does not tell us to watch, but tells to read. And we do just that. We read, not watch. And this movie flop as we wish. And yes, the studio stole. Now, can you name which adaptation changed the overall characteristics? I'm a fan of many adaptations. Even Snow White, which is so hated by the public, doesn't completely change her character. So which one do you mean? And I hope the actor's fans don't act like they know everything. We, as readers, who know more about how these ORVs are made, are more aware of the issues behind this.
